Default What is this thing called, Love ?

An unforgettable use by Frank Muir of the comma to change completely the meaning of a famous song title.
A bit like the Panda who eats, shoots and leaves.
Anywaysoever while pulling the centre console apart this rather sinister item appeared Velcro'd to the bit at the back you need to pull off to get at the two T30 Torx retaining screws.

Any ideas? Rear occupancy sensor?
CIA at work?

I agree, it looks like the small speaker that gives the warning sounds like parking assist, lights on, door open etc etc

Or is a secret microphone placed by your wife to record conversations (or other noises) with other people of the female sex

Goodness!
I must admit I thought the frenetic beeping came out of the sound system.
I'm pleased the direction indicator tick does - it's the only car I can hear the thing in.

If it was a coital detector it wouldn't be in the back unless going for the 'Badger Mount' (see off topic>the meaning of liff)

So I'm not the only only who can't detect where the reverse buzzer sound comes from.

Extract from the 19 page (!) Jaguar installation guide for the Parking Aid system:

What is this thing called, Love ?-xk8-reversing-aid-speaker.jpg

The JTIS section on removing the transmission is only 9 pages long.

I suppose, since it is 'firing' into the centre console, the sound is somewhat diffused.
I'd assumed it was the speaker for going boobooboo when trying to get out of park with ignition off but that was quickly proved false.
Wonder where that comes from ?

I think all of sound effects (except the backup warning) emanate from the speaker in the steering column.

I often get sound effects from the speaker in the passenger seat but haven't found where to disconnect her power supply yet.

Default Especially when compared with the BMW forum

The posts in this thread are clear evidence that the Jaguar XK8 is an educated man's car.
