Default Whirring Sound Solved, Engine area

Discovered the cause of the whirring sound we've been searching for. It was not the Pulleys or Water Pump, P.S..Pump, A/C comp. or Alternator. Was able to place my Cell Cam on a cardboard panel and pulled it from side to side under the engine area. Motorman had advised possibility the pan was bent. The dent was visible on the video. It was directly under the pick up area and our labor (1.0) today allowed us to straighten the damage area. 2 of the small prongs were broken and the 2 remaining prevented the pan from starving the oil pump. We took a wooden block and knocked the dent out and back to original configuration. We could see where the pick up vibrated against the pan , It wore the pain of in a small semi circle. No noise until the engine heat allowed the metal to expand and drop a tiny bit. This dent occurred when we replaced the right front motor mount. In order to drop the new mount into the captivity, we had to raise the right side of motor substantially. GOTCHA. The noise sounded similar to Static on speakers and followed the RPM.
Simple Instruction, Be careful if you have to lift engine by the oil pan for any access.

Didn’t you hear a bang when the pan was dented ?

I used to have a very low riding Olds 442 that would bottom out going over rough railroad tracks. The pan would get dented up into the moving connecting rods . That was racket only the devil would love.

Z, did you miss the previous episode about jacking up the engine to replace motor mount? We did it ourselves. Just did not notice the dent. Oil pressure was good. ;-)

Yeah, I missed it. I’m on several automotive forums, don’t have time to read all topics.
