Looks like some kind of mechanical sea monster has grabbed onto the back of it.

My XK8 does really well with my Schwinn 26". Nothing fancy, just works.

When I go on holiday to Scotland I load the rear seats up and the boot. There is actually a lot of room in these cars if you know how to use it. This time though there is going to be three of us so someone has to sit in the back, It will be tight but I think it will be OK. At least it will be for me.

I have removed the CD player ..that gives a lot more room and made a towbar ( legal on pre aug 98 cars) to fit a rack on the back. This will hold the compact spare wheel ( vertical) and a large box. No extra charge on the Eurotunnel once the testing rubbish is stopped .

Talking Practical ? Yer dern tootin'

I didn't like the idea of a bicycle rack on the back of my Jag, so, I got a foldable bike that will actually fit in the trunk (boot).

Well, since this thread got revived... I can add another instance of my XKR being practical. (Please keep in mind that my clearcoat has already failed).

A week before Christmas I went to my mom's house. Her husband surprised me with a gift Christmas Tree. He went ahead and bought it because it was like $30 at the PX.

I hadn't expected this. Had I known I would have taken the Mini. But the Jag did admirably.

Now THIS is practical

I'm storing the car at a friend's shop and I walked in last weekend and stopped dead in my tracks thinking...."I didn't notice the trailer hitch". Keen eyes will notice the trailer is backwards. Still made me chuckle.

How is it attached to the car?

It's not. It was just the way the trailer was lined up behind the car.....At first I really thought it was.

I loaded up the boot of my XKR with about 7 bags fo wood the other day. Drove fine on mud and gravel down a woodland path.

a little (or a lot) of weight in the trunk / boot does wonders for keeping the rear end firmly planted.

I used to think it only helped on snow & icy roads. Putting in 3 bags of sand helped me navigate 400 miles of snow packed roads back home from the XKR purchase trip to Iowa 6 years ago.

But recently I had about 130 lbs of steel frame braces (that I manufacture for vintage Mustangs) in the trunk and WOW. What a difference it made going thru some long curves, even though the highway was clean and dry.

I stuck a whole hay bale in the back of my xkr's boot a couple weeks ago. Had the feed store wrap it in plastic so it wouldn't make a large mess. It stuck out a bit but people's reactions were priceless!
