Wind Deflectors for a convertable
I am considering a wind deflector for my 2003 XK8; Anyone have any preferances as to which type to get, manufacturer, mounting, advantages/ disadvantages. An inquiring mind wants to know

The factory deflector is best, but it's big dollars. I installed a Welsh deflector and it worked great. I made a modification to it to make it sit a little lower, but the price was right and it made my wife happy. And that's what matters, right?
Use the back seat?????? Are you mad.... unless you have no legs of course it might not be a problem lol
But to answer your question, yes, couple of thumb screws easily takes it out and leaves the brackets behind.

I would recommend performing the "rear window up with the top down" mod to get the best performance from a rear wind deflector.
I have the factory unit which came with the car and is very well built however I do wish that it was mounted a little further back as I do have to sacrifice my seat position just a bit.

There are two ways.
Rev Sam (who else!) has a video on the first method which is a dedicated switch. This is the method I used. It's easy except it's a PITA to get your fingers into the area in the center console to get to the wires.
The second, which I think is a tad more complicated, is adding a relay so you can use the top down button. This method is idiot proof as it makes it impossible to raise the top with the rear windows up which is a no-no. There is a thread somewhere on how to do this.

I just recently completed this mod watching the Rev Sam's video. I also did the antenna mod that Rev Sam's shows. It was a hassle getting to the wires for both the antenna mod and the rear window mod. The easy way to do both of these is to pull the center consul out, another Rev Sam video shows how to do this. It is very easy to do, as I had to do it to install a Sirius radio antenna adapter in my XKR. When I took the consul out for the Sirius install, I saw that the two connectors that you need to modify are very easy to work on. You have a lot more room to pull off the connectors to do the mods.
