Default Wind noise at speed.

I am experiencing a problem with wind. It seems that at speeds above 40 MPH there is a lot of wind noise coming from the drivers side. Not sure whether it is coming from the door seal or windscreen seal. Anybody have any idea how to stop this annoying sound.

Some mechanics have a stethescope that works like a directional sound reciever. This way they can isolate where the noise is originating from. After that your may need to figure out is the seal is fixable or needs replacing. Or... turn up the radio! My wife's Subaru was really bad for wind noise, I added a bit of foam rubber near the rear view mirror support and it solved the problem. Just took a few months to figure it out. A strip of paper held in the area might work as well to find the leak. If the paper stays tight it is not a leak area, if the paper can be slid out then you have a gap.

Suggestion: take a look at the fit between the door window and the rear window. Gap there? If so, try tugging on the rear window, pulling it forward. You can pick up maybe 1/4" that way.

Good luck.

You can also try a piece of small rubber hose. Hold one end up to your ear and move the other end to locate the wind noise

The gap between the rear window and the front window is adjustable. Right now mine is intentionally mis-adjusted because my door-open microswitch is bad. As soon as I fix it I'm going to adjust the window. It's pretty easy, but you have to take off the door panel.

Insert a dollar bill between the door seals, window seals, etc., and run it around the openings in order to locate the gap(s).

I have the same on my 2005 coupe and it is the vertical rubber (plastic?) seal between the triangular "fill-in" behind the door mirror and front edge of the window. The seal does not remain fully in place at the top - causing the wind noise - but usually returns to its proper position if the window is opened and closed a time or two.

Hey its a Jag, use a $20 bill and do it while you are driving... if the bill flys away, you found your leak!

Roll the windows up, turn the blower on high, close the doors and trace the outlines of windows and doors with a lit cigarette or candle - you'll soon see any leaks.

I just adjusted my window to get rid of some wind noise. I made a video which is rendering right now. When it's done I'll upload it to youtube and post a link.

Use a loonie or a toonie.

I know, they won't work for that. I just wanted to say loonie and toonie. I think I still have a handful of toonies. Unfortunately I can't sneak them in when I paying for stuff like I can with Canadian quarters.
