Default Windscreen Washer?

Hi,

What's the easiest point for measuring if electricity is being delivered to the washer pump? My wipers start moving when I press the button but washer won't come on... 2003 XKR

The washer fluid hoses or squirt nozzles may simply be clogged with debris. Not unusual for that to happen on any older car regardless of make. I would clean them first before checking the current to the pump....

Thanks. I will check that too but I can't hear the pump either even with the engine off...

my 03 I thought mine were dead, could not hear pump. turns out in the cowl there is a T that was busted so it was just squirting into the cowl. The lines go through the drivers front cover panel, in with the brake booster area. take a line in there and if I recall you can take it off and see if it is working. I pulled the wipers and cowl cover off mine and just rigged it to work. The orig set up they have check ***** in the system under the cowl. I just took that crap out and ran it old school with some T's and hose.

The Windscreen Washer Pump (item 5) is Fuse #7 (15 amp) in the Driver's side fuse box. The separate Powerwash pump (item 8) is Fuse #7 in the engine compartment fusebox (LH).

See my post #15 in this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...working-63525/

In my case, not only was the little check valve broken but someone (likely the mechanic) punctured/crushed the little rubber tubes when they removed and replaced the plastic cowl/plenum.

Turns out to be the pump itself. Voltage was delivered to the pump but it wouldn't run. Took it out and verified the diagnosis using a lab power supply. Ohm meter shows it's almost shorted (~2 ohms).

Thought I'd update this thread as I just received the new pump. The new pump also showed about 2.5 ohms on the motor coil so maybe that wasn't a good fault indicator after all. Anyway the new pump has no trouble running on the same lab PSU so problem sorted
