Well, I wash and polish mine, but I can't get a shine like that. Beautiful car. What do you use?
I've spotted a 'vert in the same colour around town a couple of times since the heat began which I haven't seen before. Works much better for me than on the coupe - I don't know why: perhaps its a ragtop XKE thing.

Thanks michaelh, I use Griots Garage Speed Shine Shine with a high quality microfiber cloth as a quick detail, has great shine and gloss retention, but, I must admit, I'm a little over the top on my wax, (use twice a year), as I use Pinnacle Souveran Paste wax, it's a little pricey, but man it leaves the paint glowing!! I agree, my Phoenix red has got quite a bit of orange in it, can be a bit overwhelming on a coupe, guess a contrasting color top on the verts help tone it down slightly
, I must say, it gets plenty of attention though!, although I too love the deeper red on the XKE's!
but, I must admit, I'm a little over the top on my wax, (use twice a year),

Well I use some old wax that I purchased a case of in the 1970s. It smells good, goes on easy and since I wax my white car once or twice a month this seems to work fine for me. Over the top is (obviously) relative.
It takes me 8~10 minutes to hand wax the car. If it gets dusty it probably gets hosed off and dried, it rarely gets 'dirty' (once again relatively).

The headliner is very clean but the foam backing has disintegrated into a reddish powder which is leaking through it. It's staining the headliner, makes my wife sneeze and so I'm just going to renew it. I'm in Hernando County...any ideas on locals who will do headliners?
"BK",
Thanks for revealing your secret formula for "Waxing" and Cleaning the Red Convertible, I appreciate it very much! It is a beautiful Convertible and the Shine is fantastic......I also use Pinnacle wax a couple time a year but have been using "Best of Show" for about a year.....I'm not getting the same results as you, so I guess I'm going to try Speed Shine......Your little Red Machine looks great! Congratulations!

Any way, I came across these Floor Mats form my Friend Dave, in Scotland at:: enquiries@dcrautoparts.com and just had to have a set...They come in all the normal colors and you can mix them to suit you needs.....Check it out as they only cost around $175.00 for the pair, shipped! My Carpets are Beige and the Mats are Macao....The really make it look super!
Let me know what you think! Is this just a Texas thing? Billy Clyde in Houston

BC, those look very slick. They might have come in handy last week. I got dinged .3 points out of 1000 for "Carpet Cleanliness" at SD Concours. Lost another .1 on account of a few water spots in the door sills--my bad. After all other adjustments (mainly paint issues), the Black "Turismo Sport" scored 9.978 out of possible 10 in the Driven Division. I can a remedy the water spots, but does anyone know how to get tiny bits of grass out of the carpets short of using tweezers? Vacuming doesn't do it. Next up--Santa Barbara Jag Fest in October. You should bring your Black xkr out, we can get a special division.
Thanks very much for the props JRabbit and Billy Clyde!, greatly appreciated, especialy from gentlemen with such beautiful Cats as are yours!! BC, I've admired your coupe for sometime, and JR, my Xkr would not fair near as well in a concours show, so hats off to you both!
JR, I refinished my wheels with the same Dorchester Gray paint as the window trim on so many of our Xk8's and Xkr's. I had the usual oxidation blisters on my side window trims, so took the wheels to task while refinishing the trims. Also took care of some curb damage on the wheels from the previous owner. As a suggestion, you could try either a lint roller, or good old sticky backed packing tape to try and remove debris in the carpets that the vacum won't.
BC, those are freakin' killer floor mats, and I thought my Lloyds looked good, hmm, having the same color carpets as yours,.....food for thought. If it's "just a Texas thing", then I'll stand with you, as I originally hail from Dallas.

Thanks--below is picture of the 2001 convertible which is my daily driver. The coupe has 20" wheels, convert has the 18" 5/5s in silver. Makes for a much more pleasing ride. I need to get the sand out.
