Congrats on the beautiful car. Being a UGA alumnus, I lean toward the Red and Black combination, but here in S.W. Fla. it is just not a good choice. In your area; however, just every now and then for me and my friends give a "GoDawgs" shout out as you drive along????

Smile Our new toy (seats)

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty sure these are standard seats. This was a Florida car and I ran across it while researching the possible price of a 1952 XK120 I saw in a museum. When I saw this I showed it to my wife. It had been purchased at action from Barrett Jackson in Connecticut. I wasn't even looking for one. Over the years my I mentioned how much I'd like a convertible since my first two cars had been that. This was a very emotional spur of the moment purchase. Really shouldn't have but did. Right now it sits under cover in the driveway waiting until March to see a mechanic to have the engine and water pump evaluated. Since the purchase I've read non-stop about issues with these two things and since as it is running like a top I want to keep it that way. I have a few electrical issues with the side view mirrors but I should be able to handle them myself. Its great to know that this site has so much info and nice folks willing to lend advice. I also just joined the Jaguar club up here in Albany NY. My wife and I will be spending some of our free time with other Jaguar members. I plan to clay the exterior to improve the shine. The top looks like new but I'm a bit worried about the hydraulic lines so I might have that looked at when at the shop. Any advice is appreciated from all of my new friends here.

Congrats on your XKR, great to see a fellow Red cat owner! Yes, I've only seen a couple with black interiors and tops, My Phoenix red Xkr was also originally a Florida car. You will find the niggly bits and pieces that will eventually need repair, refurb, or replacement, but the overall pleasure of driving your Xkr will show you it's all worthwhile. As a side note, updated chain tensioners and MLS headgaskets are an issue you may want to look into for your 4.0 in the future. These forums expose you to a wealth of information and knowledge accrued by fellow members. Wishing you many years of enjoyment in owning your Xkr.

Cheers, BK

Lightbulb Our new toy

I wonder if someone on this forum has a list of how may of this model were produced and with what color and interior combination? I haven't looked for long, but I rarely see the combination we have. Just saying.

I've seen the production numbers on the forum broken down by year for Coupe/Convertible but haven't seen one including color options

Default My '98 XK8

She's an Arizona car and has even since day one. I use her as a daily driver. Couldn't be happier. Now that I definitely have the bug am looking at a 2004 Silver XKR Convertible.

145,900 miles and still running strong. Original paint and nikasil engine.

Last pic before a tear down.

Will strip the interior where needed to remove PO wires and other stuff, re-arrange panels and fittings as they should be, replace back lights, hit the shifter area with a new cover, add gauge rings, repair the headrests, and many more .... all the usual stuff.
After that a new O2 sensor and engine bay clean up, re-arrange the front lighting, followed by new bushes and mounts on suspension.

She should be as good as new by the end of March.

Billy, guess you refer to the lighting poles?
They are some artistic impression of seagulls, as it is a big parking lot next to the harbor.
Not some Martians just landed .

Default Here's a real impressive wow me image

2004 XK8 cabrio, Just hit 170k, no Check Engine Lights or warnings. Neither engine nor transmission ever opened up or needing work. Every tiny little light and thing works like new, even the visor mirror covers, and the motorized headrests.
