Interior is stock and in good shape other than the driver's seat bolster. On the back I removed all the badging and any extra chrome or trim I could get rid of. It got rebadged as a GTS just to keep people guessing

Jaguar sent a little Black package full of Screw Caps, Air Adaptor Valves to check Air Pressure and a T driver in the Glove Box of all BBS equipped Cars.. If your car doesn't have one or you need to add the actual Air Valve itself check out www.XK8-Parts.com as they have these items in stock. Also, look above where Mr. Sandwich has written about another source for Air Valves in Germany........

Brad, sorry but you seem to have me mixed-up with some other Guy, as I still have a Back-Seat......

Billy Clyde
Billy my apologies! I am very sorry to mix this up.

I did get the little leather bag that came with the air adapter valve and the T driver. No spare screw caps. And yes, I had one of those moments of "what if I lose this" and did get one of the spare adaptor valves from Germany! I am trying to keep 100% stock so no red paint on the calipers. I really like the birdseye maple dash. My red leather stitching is really bleached now but there's an upolstery guy that all the dealers go to in vegas with the correct black leather and the red thread that says he can completely replicate it for $2500. I wish the seat in the Silverstone was like the next year when they went to Recaros. I slide all over the place on mine nd it really affect how hard you can push it in the corners. I wonder if the upholstery guy can improve on it and increase the bolsters? Or if I can find a 2002 recaro and have it reskinned to match?

I used to refer to this car as my "beater" Jag, but now I'm quite proud that it gets a lot of looks. Without the badging I get a lot of questions about what it is.

Are you saying you did the wrap yourself? If so you did one hell of a job.

Brad,

Fast thinking on the BBS Valve Parts Bag! You need to make sure you have spares for each one of those items on the list....Especially the Valve Caps as they really do serve a purpose by keeping the Valve Stem clean and dry....Also, as an example, the Adapter Valves, which can be broken quite easily by your favorite Discount Tire Guy....as I have experienced a couple times....You've got something every XK8-XKR Owner wants and that's your Detroit's...Therefore: if you don't have them, you better get some Locking Nuts for them....I put this off far to long and was lucky one night when I came out of the Movie just in time to scare-off the "Tire Thieves"....Had to replace several Lug-Nuts on one of the Wheels before I could leave the Parking-Lot...These Guys are Pros and they work fast but they understand that they are not as fast as my little .380! They really scattered when I put one up in the air.....

Also, you mentioned "Recaros"...They are good looking but the next time you see an XKR with them....,ask the Owner if you could try them out....You will find that trying to get in or out over those side bolsters is twice as hard as the regular Seats....You don't have much room anyway but they really are Ball-Busters......and Brad, you can't slide very much, as the regular Seat ain't all that bad! Looks sometime are not the best thing!

Change the Leapers to Clear Repeaters and Marker lights to Clear Lens....That's about all you need to do especially on a "Silverstone"!

Billy Clyde

Billy
Good advice! I will pursue the locking nuts ASAP. I have have one taken apart as a I damaged a polished trim ring which I know have ready for installation. So I'll get some locking nuts when I get that done. The valve caps for the BBS air valves I don't have, what do they look like, anyone know? Best get those too.

I did order the side clear repeaters from the UK. Prior to your posts I didn't realize I could replace the leapers. For the life of me cannot find the clear markers anywhere, went to UK eBay and no one seems to have them. I would like to get them with the bulbs you mention. I am also keen to get the windscreen for the back seat from Dave at DCR (I found those guys on this forum).

Thanks for all the help! No one around here to ask!

Brad,

The BBS Screw Caps are in the Bag....They screw into the top of the Air Valve...The one that is screwed into the wheel, you have to unscrew it before you can screw in the air pressure valve to check the Air Pressure....It looks like a screw head that you use the little T-Driver to remove...It even has a rubber gasket to keep dirt out of the Air Valve.....Big Dave has them in Scotland......…......He also has the Clear Side-Marker Lens you asked about....Sometime, you just have to ask him...

It's always fun to run across the occasional photo in a thread but this one is just for our photos!
Maybe if it goes well, it can be a sticky! It would be a great place to remember former and lost members before its too late, as well as the new owners to come!!

Yes. Did it myself. It was my first wrap, I watched a bunch of youtube, took my time and I learned a lot. It is definitely not perfect. The stuff just comes in five foot tall rolls (as long as you want) and you cut off a chunk and start wrapping. It looks impossible to put such a flat piece of material onto such a curved surface....but eventually you work it smooth.

Finally stopped raining and put the top down for the first time since I finished the wrap.

I've thought about doing it on one of my other cars. It looks as if it would be a two person job. Thanks for the influence!

I did it myself, but would have definitely been easier with help. Really not bad though, watch some videos, buy some samples and practice on something small to get a feel for how the material sticks and stretches. The first thing I wrapped was my laptop

As haunted with issues as these cars can sometimes be, I think that taking photos with a cemetery in the background makes perfect sense....
