Default X100 front parking sensor

Anybody know about front parking sensors for X100?

Is it possible to fit unit from X150? (front/rear)?

Would it be cost effective?

I know that whitexk is supposed to be developing a set up, but it appears a long way off.

Cheers)

I'd be very interested if you find out. Was hoping whiteXK would've launched his by now.

Sorry to disappoint, but I have devoted my limited development time this past year to the X150 XK/XKR, but I will be back on X100 XK8/R projects soon.

XKRacer has said he has had some success with this kit on the XK8: Universal Parking Sensor | No Holes | Front & Rear Reverse Parking Sensors , but these have less range and are more prone to false signals than the factory ultrasonic sensors used in the rear. They also require manual triggering with a push button.

If you are willing to drill holes in the bumper and paint the sensors, there are many aftermarket ultrasonic sytems available...just have a look on ebay.

In the UK there is a non drill parking sensor called a PD 1 I have this fitted to my car. It was easy to fit and works well and it not expensive.

Hi Ian, how have you found it so far. I'm very interested, especially now as having a new bumper fitted due to Minicab hit and run.
Any installation tips?

Thanks,

Jody

As for me, I'm waiting for Steve's (WhiteXKR) version. Having installed several of Steve's kits before, I know them to be intelligently designed and of the highest quality. My XKR deserves only the best and the best is worth waiting for.

Daaah, Steve I was half asleep didn't twig the link.
Fitting is well explained in essence remove the bumper stick the sensor tape alone the length of the undone of the bumper link the wire to the module, find 12V connect, the hardest thing is locating a place for the on/off switch and routing the wire through the bulkhead. I find it works a treat and it doesn't mess with the lines of the car.
Off topic I also have a number of steve's products on my car and can't complain about any of them. The remote hood still makes me chuckle when I use it ;-)

Is there any easier way of doing it without removing the bumper?

I too love Steve's remote roof module.

Removing the bumper cover on the XK8/R is not all that difficult.

There are also infrared systems that just tack on the bumper like this:
Brandmotion 5000CA5 Curb Alert PRO Parking Sensor : Amazon.com : Automotive Brandmotion 5000CA5 Curb Alert PRO Parking Sensor : Amazon.com : Automotive
but I have no direct experience with them. I suspect they work well for objects directly in front, but are weak in the corners. The sensor might also be susceptable to damage from of all things , low curbs!

PS: I am delighted the remote convertible top feature continues to please!

I don't know how I missed this, but I had it on my (now sold) XK8, by using XKRacer's basic set-up, but I modified to where it was initiated by pressing the (redundant) valet button to power up a timer relay, which then powered the parking sensor strip, fibre-glassed into the inside of the front nose cone skin.
The pre-set timer is adjustable, and I believe I had it set for 30 seconds, just enough time to make the forward maneuver, before it automatically powered down

I'll try and dig up the information and post it on here ......

By the way, I did remove the Racing Green nose cone (which has the front parking set up installed in it) from my XK8 and have it in storage, and plan to fit it to my XKR sometime in the near future
