Default xk 8 key ?

Went to dealer to get spare Tibbe key, ordered by parts dept and tried when it arrived. THE oem key works great, but the dealer replacement key does not function properly. They re-ordered and cked vin#, etc. Dealer said Jag. advised new cylinder (2003 car has 120K) since apparently the original was worn and not working with their new key. Anyone have any ideas or actions to suggest rather than a new cylinder. How much trouble is the cylinder replacement? The OEM key I have show little to no wear and I have difficulty with buying unneeded parts, but I have before :-).

Read the Tibbe code yourself and make sure they really match: See How To Read Jaguar Tibbe 8 Cut Key Codes

I was able to read the Tibbe code and confirmed the code with parts dept after they ordered replacement. The repl. key was not as deep a cut on the 1/2 & full cuts as my original. Am I being fed a "LINE"?

The dealer I use (Autobahn Fort Worth TX) has a key cutting machine ON SITE. Some dealers order the keys from Jaguar.

Some forum members have posted info on obtaining cut keys online from venders and then have them configured to the car by a dealer or shop with a suitable diagnostic computer. You already have the TIBBE code so you can have one made.

Did the dealer configure the key to your car????

No on configure (program?) new key. They tried ign. and door. but would not unlock. The new key did not appear to have same depth cut as my original key. Probably will try A/M service or recognized locksmith for key. some have noted a locksmith in KC. Either Brandt's or McGuires? Any other suggestions from members?

Once the key(s) is/are cut correctly someone with a WDS, IDS AutoLogic etc. can configure the KEYS to the car. Some locksmiths can program the keys.

Can you recommend someone in the DFW area that is reasonable? Feel free to include yourself if you can do it too. It would be a good excuse drive out there.

My Brother lives in Carrollton and I drive there a few times a year. 40 or 50 miles I would guess.

I can configure cut keys to the car but I CANNOT cut them. You will need to have the news key(s) cut and ALL keys with you at once. They cannot be added one-at-a-time.
Any key not present will be deleted. Up to 5 keys can be configured to the car.

You can send me a Private Message for a phone number and set up a time.
