Default XK Race-Style Seats

I just got back my racing seats from the shop! I should have time to install this in the XK hopefully by next weekend. Click on the attachment below to see the picture. The racing seat belts were the wrong ones. The one pictured here is a 5 point. I'm removing the belt in the bottom center.

Where did you buy them? How much did they cost. Please post photos of the install. Thanks,

Mark

I bought these racing seats online on ebay. They were originally colored in black and red. As soon as I received them I took it to an upholsery shop where they matched the leather of my XKs interior and customized the seat for me. I also had them add the Jaguar lettering at the top of the head-rest. In total I spent less than $600 which is quite reasonable. I'm working on the install as we speak and there will need to be some modifications to the bottom brackets of the racing seats. The orginal seat structure and frames will not be used. As soon as I complete the welding and modifications, I will then post some new pictures to show you the finished product. Thank you.

I finally installed the seats in the XK! Click the attachments below to see the pictures. One picture shows the custom welding I had to make so the seats could fit properly, sit low, and the seat-belt could latch on the back. The other picture shows the drivers seat installed. It's alot more comfortable and attractive than the stock seats.

Very kewl! Suits the convertible more than the coupe, perhaps.

I think it would suit both the coupe and convertible, but it would be much easier to install the seats in the convertible. The space would be too cramped to try to intsall the new seats in the coupe. These seats give better driver positions than the orginal and they grip you on the corners (with help from the seat-belts of course). The inspiration for these seats came from the Ferrari 599 GTB.

Very nice job, what was the brand of the seat that you used and did you modify the slider from that seat. I've got a '03 R coupe that I'd like to do something similar but just to the drivers side. Did your '98 have an airbag in the original seat?
