Default XK8 Brake Servo chamber filling with water!

Hello fellow XK8 drivers! My first post, please forgive any unprofessional terminology!
I am the proud owner of a '05 XK8 Coupe. Yesterday I discovered that the chamber containing the servo at the rear offside location of the engine compartment contained a large quantity of water, 6 inches deep at the bottom! Major panic and I couldn't find a drain plug or breather. On calling a premier Jaguar dealer the service manager, with some embarrassment, informed me that "there is no plug, we pump the water out"!!!! I was left gasping! I then proceeded to syphon about two and a half pints of dirty water from the chamber. This water was just beginning to threaten various electrics in the chamber....phew! Is it true that there is no natural 'drain' for this water and is there a way of improving this design fault?
Thanks for reading and thanks for the help I've gleaned from the forum in the past.
George Morgan.

Hi.

All the way at the bottom, at the lowest point there is an opening. This opening gets clogged with debris like old leaves preventing the water getting out.
Check your other side as well.

Hi Oyster, many thanks for your help. It's pretty tricky to see what goes on down there but I will carefully fathom the depths! Any tips as to the location?
Thank goodness for guys like you, main dealers never have the knowledge accumulated by true enthusiasts! Do they try and keep us in the dark or is it just all about moving new metal?
Best regards, George.

Hi again.

Here is a picture of mine. If you look carefully you may see I need to remove some rubbish or leaves as well. A thin tube from your vacuum cleaner will do.

Welcome to the forum George,

Our Brake Servo is on the opposite side to oyster's but the principle is the same. If you look down at the rear of the compartment there should be a half moon shaped drain hole. This is my 2005 XK8 Coupe:

Check the other side too. There's even more critical electronics in that compartment!

You can use a thin wooden stick to remove debris and let the water to drain. You will see water leaking behind the front wheel.

It would be a lot easier if everybody would drive in the middle of the street. Then it would be nobody left, right.
Turn right, no not that right, the other right, that's right.

Thank you very much gentlemen for your kind help, it has been invaluable and, indeed, I have found the drain hole and cleared and Hoovered the area of debris! As stated, what would we do without this forum and the great knowledge of skilled members.
I am still amazed that the service manager of a major dealership specialising in the sale and service of both Jaguars and Aston Martins has absolutely no idea of what goes on with these suoerb vehicles!! Thanks again, George.
