Default XK8 child seat LATCH?

I am thinking of buying a XK8 convertible or XK convertible. It won’t be a daily driver. I know it’s tight back there but does anyone know if these convertibles have the tether (part of the LATCH system)? I know they have the lower anchors but I want to know about Tethers which are usually located behind the rear seat shelf or on the backside of the rear seats.

Thank You in advance

So I checked out a 2003 xk8. This particular car was used and abused. However it did have 2 LATCH tethers on the back of the rear seat wall! I assume all xk8s convertibles have them. If anyone can confirm this or if anyone has an XK model I would be interested in knowing if there are upper LATCH tethers.

Thanks again

Don't miss the forrest for the tree, and check for the overall sanity of trying the wrestle a hard shell baby seat in and out of the back seat. There is really not much room back there. Check that your spouse is on the same page, too!

Funny thing is that once out of these bulky seats, there is a window of time for rides as a whole family. Then the window closes again once the kids grow legs...

No carseat will fit lol... we have a travel vest that acts similar to a booster/3 point belt that connects to the latch system. It’s our only hope. Thanks

We also use the travel vest. Getting a booster or anything else in there proved to be too tedious, though some on here have done it. The seat is small enough to act as a child seat as far as I’m concerned, so we just went with a vest which is very easy to fit in.

mine has the LATCH anchors....but I would never try to put a child seat back there. It's hard enough to attach in the back of my old Ford Escape or the Hyundai Elantra wagon

Barry could you see if your has Tethers? I am afraid ai may have mistaken the tethers for cargo hooks.

Lower anchors are located near seatbelt buckles
Tethers are usually located behind headrests or on the backside of the seatback.

For anyone interested in the vest I can send you more info if you message me.

Here is the Ride Safer travel vest we purchased last year for $135 direct from the manufacturer.

We currently have a 3.5 year old in the small size. We have used it in both the XJ and the XK, but we purchased it for the XK and did not get it with the tether, which makes me think that the XK ‘vert does not have an anchor point for them.

According to the owners manual (2006 MY) both coupe and convertible have top tethers (section 3-10 through 3-14).

Thanks all

yes Ride Safer is the vest we use. Highly recommend it. And thank you for the owner’s manual reference. It sounds like the XK8 vert has tethers but the XK vert does not.

I stand corrected, dsd is right. I just checked and the convertible does indeed have anchor points. I had checked for them last year but I guess I had chalked them off as something else as they don’t look like standard anchor points for a car seat.
