1999 jaguar xk8 convertible- jumped timing.

 

my question is how difficult would it be to replace the normally aspirated 4.0l. engine with a used supercharged 4.0l or 4.2l engine- bearing in mind I am fully capable mechanic with an extensive automotive shop and crew at hand. would like to buy a used engine from an xkr or equivalent (with supercharger and all ancillaries) and retro-fit it in a stock xk8.what issues- e.c.m.? fuel pressure, and volume- what incidentals would be involved to complete this conversion??

 

Hi neighbor, welcome to the forum. The electronics are the real issue. This has been suggested many times and I think the end result is to spend more money than the cost of a XKR. It is possible, but the transmission, shocks and many of the modules from a XKR would also have to be swapped.
