Surgiu um problema no meu xk8 e que é o seguinte:

Ontem, de repente, sempre que dava luz de máximos e comutava para médios o radio desligava-se por 4 segundos e voltava a ligar !!!!.

Se ligasse os farois de nevoeiro voltava a acontecer o mesmo!!!

é inrigante. o que será ?

ps : a bateria tem 1 ano, é portanto nova.
ps: hoje já está tudo bem, o que me leva a supor que será algo que só com o aquecimento aparece.

Amigo... either I have to bone up on my Spanish... or perhaps you could brush up on your Norte Americano... But since I also have a 98 XK8, I can feel your pain. What light are you talking about? Your headlights?? And your radio shuts off for about 4 seconds? That seems odd... I'm not sure about the "NEVOEIRO" thing. Perhaps some of our bi-lingual brothers can step in here...

my problem is:
whem i turn on the maximum ligths my radio turns off for a few seconds and turn on imediatly.
whem i turn on the frog ligths the radio turns off for an few secons and turn on imediatly.

this situation is ocasionaly. ( in this moment everything is ok ). So i d'ont unsderstand what append ?.
i already see the fuse and are ok.

if you can help me ?

I was hoping that someone with a little knowledge would chime in here with some advice, however, they all may be sitting around...waiting for another member to address your problem. I'm just an Old Locomotive Engineer with the bare minimum of experience. You want to know about the operation of an EMD, or GE locomotive, I can reasonably answer your question. Does this happen when the engine is running? Intermitent gremlins are hard to pin down. Come on you Jag officiados, give this man a hand!!

a little translation...
Now, what they do have in common, is current draw, especially when the fogs or the high beams fire up, if a voltage drop causes the radio to act up (go silent), even temporarily, it could very well be power related, either from the battery/alternator and/or wiring amongst the primary distribution to ECM/BPM. That's my guess. Have the obvious checked first, then work your way from the power to the modules.

 

I can't find my frog light switch. Is that an option?

 

Its the one marked "Ribbit". Oh nevermind, I just saw it actually says "Valet".

BTW mine doesn't work. I pushed it several times and no valets have turned up.

Make sure the cables supplying voltage to the affected components are tight... no possibility of arcing or loose connections. It is best to disconnect battery. (save radio codes if used)
You would be surprised what this much current will do to a wrench.

Tighten cable supplying:
Engine Compartment fuse box. (under the rubber cover)
Passenger side fuse box.
Main fuses (500A) just forward of the spare tire.

I don't figure it is a relay problem as high beam and fog are separate relays.
On my car, '04, fog lamps go out when high beams are on.

Any other symptoms other than the radio going out??
