The 1998 XK8 I recently bought did not have a front license plate bracket. I found one at Craigs Custom Mustang Brackets for under $60. They call it a Universal Bracket. It has a slotted mounting tab. I found a plastic fastener at the bottom center of the car grille which fastened to the fascia. I carefully removed the plastic fastener with a hacksaw blade, then slipped the bracket tab between the grille tab and the fascia. Then I replaced the plastic fastener with a screw and nut. The bracket kit comes with a removable mounting piece held in place with strong double-sided tape if you want to go that route instead.

I just brought a 2000 home from Virginia on Monday. Can't wait to get rid of the VA temporary tags and remove the front license holder.
