How do you activate the headlight washer. I looked at the manual but the operation was not clear.

 

Hi, its not exactly obvious is it.

Wash the windscreen and on every 5th? wash it operates the headlamp washers.

 

Boy, there is nothing in my manual that I could find about this. Thanks for the info.

 

Don't the headlights have to be on for the headlight washers to operate ? Mine never come on unless the lights are on. Of course I don't know if my wiring is 100% stock

I have Googled many different phrases related to the XK8 and headlight washer operation and have had no luck. Nor can I find it in my Jaguar manuals. It must be classified information.

 

Kent, if you have a convertible be careful with roof down. The headlight washer can squirt your passenger in the eye.

On my 2001 XKR Fuse #7 30A in the engine compartment fuse box left hand side is for the headlight washers. I, like many others on here, have removed this fuse to stop the headlight washers spraying all over the bonnet when I just wanted to wash the windscreen. Maybe a previous owner has removed the fuse on your car.

 

I have found the instructions. Page 56 of the owners manual.
