Trying to find a diagram of the internal construction of the sill to assist with injecting wax or possible future welding.
Tried the search and no joy.
thanks in advance.
The rear sill section is a strange and complicated design......(hard to explain)
In the closure panel you have two access plugs i would use both for oil/wax injection, from the lower one you can direct the oil/wax either side of one of the inner sill's, the top one only has access to one side.
The problem is nether will give access to the rust trap that this rear sill design causes...
Here is a rough sketch of my limited understanding of this area.
The rust trap from the closure panel is about 10mm and gets less as it go's towards the join in the middel of the sill (under the door)... at this point there is no gap just two over lapping sill's (rear inner and front outer).
The above sketch shows foam/bonding.... on my car i could see no bonding at the low section only the higher up section so this may or may not exist..
If other members have a better understanding of this area hopefully they will comment/help..
Many thanks that explains a lot and as usual with a jag leaves many questions unanswered.
Unfortunatly ist too cold to do any work outside which is why I have timed my MOT at mid august .
If anyone has any photos during repair much appreciated .
My car seems to have problems on the RHS due to a leaking rear window dating back to a 2005 remove and re fit by jaguar. when I got it the RH rear seat had loads of water under it .I concluded the window was leaking and letting water flow forwards if the car was nose down or into the trunk if nose up . I cured the leak ..failure to seal a seam on the lower RH corner and its now dry (pray)
Having seen the diagram I think pouring about 1/2 a quart of hot wax underseal (in UK called Waxoil) into the extreme top right of the trunk above the wheel arch will flow down into the water trap area.I have good access as I removed the CD player . Its not clear how the inner stiffening tube is attached to the wheel arch.Lets hope for a small gap or maybe a job for the camera on a cable
We will see.
