It’s a strange quirk of human nature that individuals think they can ‘improve’ on a celebrated design.
There is an unwritten limit to how much you can personalise your car before it is too much. But, every so often, there is someone that says “So what, I don’t give a s#it”!
Strange I know, but I kind of like that these creatives are among us.

 

GHOSTS of Harley Earl! The 1959 Cadillac had them also. OLD is New again :-)_

 

I assume that is simply CGI wizardry. No one in their right mind would actually do that....

And I like the Harley Earl reference. Check out his 1938 Buick Y-Job. Now THAT was a car way ahead of its time....

There are other pictures of it on the internet, so it looks like a real car. One site even mentioned that the top doesn't retract anymore.

...and they were SO CLOSE to making it a Batmobile....

I think it’s a fake.
If you expand the photo of the fin you’ll see gap around fuel fill cover is asymmetrical, not something a talented body nd fender man would tolerate.
t’would be a great cosmic-cruiser for Elvis.

It's ugly.

It's fake. Look at the distortion in the first photo - the shadow lines on the door are straight, but on the rear they curve sharply upwards. The only way they'd do that is if the rear quarterpanel was rounded - but it isn't, as you can see in photo 2.

 

someone, hopefully a student in elementary school, has too much time on their hands, and needs some lessons in basic styling cohesion.

well I just spent some time searching the www. There are multiple photos of this car. Different angles. different settings. It is real. Search xk8 with 59 Cadillac tail fins and be amused.

Dang you're right. i was just going off the photos posted and my photographer wife pointed out the weird shadow line.

Still ugly.

 

As a lifelong aficionado of tail fins, I find it interesting. It's not beautiful, but it's not ugly. It's the Meryl Streep of automobiles!

However, unlike Ms. Streep, I wouldn't want to be seen in public with it.

 

Pigs can be beautiful. But putting lipstick on one doesn’t make it more beautiful.

the worst styling in the world is when something looks like it was added as an afterthought.

Which is exactly what we have here, real or fake.
