I'm sure you're right. I've always wondered what would happen if at the annual emissions inspection they wanted you to rev the engine to more than 3000 rpm. I suppose they could tow the test equipment behind the car.

You can download the wiring guide for your car here:-

http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa.../jagxk2001.pdf

That is a link to the PDF file. Another member says they have had to register with a credit card to download files from that site, but it should just download without any kind of registration - there is a donate button on the site, but it isn't obligatory. The website is by a well known member on the forum, and I have been using it for years without any issues, but please report back if it doesn't work.

The electrical guide has every bit of information you need, including wire colours, connector pin numbers, module locations, fuse locations and ratings, even the make and model of connectors used on the wiring harness, so it's well worth studying.

This worked so well - thank you Dibbit. I have printed out the relevant pages of the wiring diagram. Need a good magnifying glass to read the text though. This is a new car to me so as opportunity arises I will start hunting for clues.

I think the first thing is to locate the fuel pump relays adn see if there is a 'jumper' attached anywhere, as I was told, 'to allow the car to run'.

Grateful for the help.

Really enjoying my newly acquired X100. Got the car radio to work - just asked the local Jag agent in Stellenbosch for the code who gave it to me within two minutes. Impressive for a 24 year old car from a local dealer.

Now to get the antenna to raise up. Can't drive the car with my finger on the antenna stub to get reception!

One challenge at a time.

Default vineyards from sea to mountains. Who drinks all that wine?

Just a quick update for all those interested in progress. I contacted our local Jaguar Agent who have been most helpful. So tomorrow (that's Monday Nov 25) I will have an analisys of the fault codes. Hopefully this gives an outline of where to look for the Restricted Performance issue. In the mean time I enjoy the car immensely even eith the 3000 rpm restriction. This is fine on the freeway where with the traffic, and legal limit being 120 km/hr, one can live with it. Accelerating from start is the problem as 3000 rpm is quickly reached at which point the fuel is cut.
Regarding the radio antenna which refuses to leave its little nest i pulled apart the co-axial antenna cable and inserted a 3m length of stranded wire which I fed through a convenient grommet to get to the rear bumper. Here it loops over a few bolts to hold it extended. This works fine for FM reception in a strong signal area. I'm surprised that AM does not work. More wor needed here!.

Default Need ECU for a 2005 XKR

Hi, first time on the site so if I break the etiquette please let me know. I just bought The 2005 XKR. It was flooded and is in need of a replacement ECM. The serial# I need is
MB079700-9501. I have looked almost everywhere with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi,
That part # is not the Jaguar designated one. What are the last 6 characters of your VIN?

OK.
The Electrical guide shows:

...so the Jaguar part # for your car is C2N3339. Unfortunately, as you've seen, it isn't printed on the case of the module.
It does give you a VIN range to work with for a replacement, and should help as a cross-reference in your search. (The 4W83.... may help also)

Note that it's not a straightforward module swop on the 4.2L - you will need access to a Jaguar diagnostic tool to configure any replacement.
I've attached some documentation that describes the process.

Good luck!

XKR lives again - not that it had died, just got a bit restricted! This forum is amazing. In Nov 2024 Cap't Col offered a used ECM from a car of roughly the same age (2000). This he sent me recently. The local Jag expert had it checked out and re-programmed in a couple of days. Yesterday he phoned to say it works perfectly. He suggested to replace the two fuel pumps which is now being done.

Next week I get the car back! It will be the first time I use the car as it was intended - all thanks to Cap'n Col.

I'll update this when I get the car back.

So far so good.

The car is back and what a pleasure!

Now the detail work begins. Spent a few hours removing the antenna complete. The antenna is located behind the CD and amplifier box, on top of which sits the hydrauic pump to operate the retracting roof on this convertible. Only a few bolts to loosen, easy enough, except the pump is slotted into the ridge of the right hand wing and can't be removed unless all parts are separated. That's no problen when removing it, but you need four hands to hold it all in place when reftting.
The antenna mast was solid locked with probably salty residue from rain. This needed a heat gun and penetrating oil, and plenty of force to loosen and clean it. Fortunately there is a logic circuit built into the antenna plastic case which detects a resistance from the mast and switches off the operation. That's why there was no blown fuse, and once cleaned the unit worked again, as did the radio.

Now the air con needs to be fixed. Probably just needs re-gassing.

Looking back on the threads I should comment that the ECM DENSO LNG1410 AC and the replaced LNG1410AD seem to be compatible, although the local private repair shop did remap it.

Still can't stop admiring the looks of this car.

Regards to all

Keith
