XKR transmission questions
Hi, I have a 2002 XKR.
This car has the 722.6 mercedes transmission.
I bought a 722.6 transmission dipstick tool and did a fluid and filter change.
I was surprised by the amount of fluid I needed to add back to get it full (over 6 quarts).
Now my transmission has a leak. It appears to be from the electrical connector.
Has anyone else had to deal with the leak from the electrical connector? Is this a hard fix on our cars?
Also, are there different dipstick tools for 722.6 transmissions? My fear is that my dipstick is inaccurate for this car and I am overfilling the fluid?
Does over 6 quarts for added back for a fluid and filter change seem right? I was under the impression that it would need less than 5 quarts.

The Jaguar specification says 10 quarts from empty, so your 6 is probably correct for an oil and filter change.
I believe the electrical connector is a common leakage point
Mercedes part numbers:
140 270 02 50 - Connector Plug
026 997 41 48 - Seal ring
026 997 40 48 - Seal ring

Greets,
Did my 1999 XKR 722.6 tranny fluid change last winter.
Afaik there is two types of dipsticks 'original' type which does not hit tranny bottom and 'other' type which does hit bottom. I used original type like this: dipstick
Dipstick must be on right position when inserted to tube and some force must be used because kinks on tube so that it enters fully to bottom of tube.
My 722.6 does have torque converter drain plug, so after draining I had to add approx 9 quarts of fluid. Without plug it is between 5-6 usually. See 722.6
Connector sleeve is common leak point on 722.6; mine was leaking and I replaced it also. Space & locking bolt visibility is tight and cleaning sleeve surround prior removal is advised so that oily grit is not pushed inside box when installing new sleeve. Had to use mirror to see inside sleeve connector when removing & inserting it. Sleeve locking bolt should not be turned overtight.
Final measurement of fluid level is done w/engine running at P-position & fluid temp at 80C
722.6 fluid underfilling is not so serious than overfilling (apparently gaskets can be blown when hot & overfilled).
