Somebody get this clueless guy a beer...lol
I knew precious couldn't stay away....I usually don't drink beer.....How bout a wine spritzer.....ONLY 2 INCHES....A 928 is still wider than a 70s Chevy. Two Inches is pretty friggin big, in the automotive world. If we had 2 inches behind the seats, we could possibly fit humans back there.....Go talk to someone who cares about your numbers......It ain't me Babe........Mr. Two Inches......Don't hurt yourself.....Mike

Maybe I should tell the fellas on Rennlist your new name too....and yes....I am a member....duh...duh....duh

The GTS is 2 inches wider, not your car.. EXACTLY the same width an xk8 . 72inches vs 72 inches. Any more smart things to add? Expert..lol

Seriously.. You're a funny guy. Besides not knowing what you're talking about, I say you're a beer drinker. Lol

I was believing you until this. CO, NOX, THC and NMHC pollution have nothing at all to do with the carbon buildup on your tailpipes. When it comes to readily available and verifiable facts; a Jaguar XK8 is an ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) while an 83 Porsche 928s is not even tier 1 emission compliant.

It's how we used to check performance, before they went to the 4 gas testers, and OBDII. My 928 passes tail pipe emissions at less than a tenth of the standard, and her tail pipes are clean enough to simply wipe out every month or two. I have always only used 93 octane fuel in her, and I have had her since she was new. I use 93 octane in my 99 XK8, but I doubt the farmer I unburied it from used anything but regular.

I am sure there is coke in the intake and exhaust ports. I think the pipes will clean up, after I clean the complete injection system. Watch the episode of Wheeler Dealers on utube, where they gave away the XK8, and they did the same thing to the one they gave away. I think there is a Wheeler Dealers link on one of the more recent posts. It is pretty educational, showing that these cars are really fine automobiles. They even measured the emissions before and after they cleaned the injection system.

There has to be some reason I am getting carbon deposits in my XK8 exhaust. I am sure it is a ULEV vehicle, but they are getting pretty long in the tooth now, and unless you are the original owner, you don't know what was burned in it. A car is only as good as the treatment it gets from it's owners, and a lot of people put in whatever is cheapest.

When I was with Audi, we had lawyers and doctors, that swore they used premium. One day I met one of them at the pumps, and he was pumping crap into his car. This guy was always complaining about lack of performance and rough idle. When I took off his intake manifold, to corncob clean the intake valves, it looked like black pillows on top of the valves....Hope this explains things.....Take care.....Mike
