I spilled coffee onto my 2001 xkr's radio and I'm told by an expert repair guy it is ruined. I would like to replace the radio with a used unit. I can find used radios for XK8s, but I'm not sure the xk8 radio is compatible with the xkr. Does anyone out there know the answer?

They are the same. Most if not all XKRs had premium audio though. If you get a replacement from an XK8 that was not in a premium system, there is a switch on the chassis that will need to be moved into the premium audio position. Also, I think you should stay with one from a 2000 or later model.

Yes, I'm very interested. I looked at a website for xk8 radios in salvage yards in the southeast and saw prices from $75 at low end to between $150 and $200 at the high end. That being said I would much prefer buying a radio from someone on the forum such as yourself.

I meant the chassis of the radio. I cannot recall which side, but it is a recessed slide switch.

Again, maybe I'm just a bozo and don't know how to navigate this site, but after I took these great pictures of my XKR and tried to post them, nothing happened. Is this because I'm still in the trial period and will it get better once you see I'm for real or did I do something wrong?
