XKR wheels
Hi Folks
I have a green 2003 XKR convertible. I love the car but not so fond of the wheels. Have seen other wheels that I think look much better and I think they may be a factory option. My question is what are these wheels called, where do I get them and will they fit over my brembo R brakes?
Thanks in advance. Jeff.

Were these a factory option?
Any idea where I might look for a set and what they're likely to cost?
Cheers Jeff

Thanks Eric. Yes it.is my car and the wheels are in good condition, I just much prefer the look of the other ones. I think my ones look a bit dated...

They are hard to come by, especially a full set, there were not that many made in the first place. The XK is a different bolt pattern, so unfortunately you can’t use the XJ or S-type version of the same style.
In good condition you should probably expect to spend in the range of $4000.

Jeff and his Montreals
Jeff,
As most everyone has told you...They are hard to come by and are expensive.....My XKR is a 2005 and came with "Montreal's", as did the Red Calipers. If I truly wanted a really good set today, I would contact Dave @ DCR AutoParts <enquiries@dcrautoparts.com> In Scotland...Dave has all kinds of XKR stuff and if he knows what you are looking for, he will gather it all together for you and ship your order to you! All this for a reasonable price, I might add! You will probably need Lug Nuts and Locks also, so when you make contact with Dave, tell him what you are doing and what you will need......You may use my Name, as we have had several of these sessions...It helps to have a Pay Pal account also!
They're may be other sources that some of the other Guys may have also....So check all of them out!

Like all BBS trim rings they're fairly available but expensive, and UK sources are the the best way to get them. Personally I'm happy with the BBS Milans on my XKR; being only 18" they give you more sidewall and comfort and are less vulnerable to potholes.

Hi Billy. Are you sure wheels are 'Hydra's'?
#13
Well Jeff...……...They both have 7 double spokes, their both 8x18" Front & 9X18" Rear.....and you are probably right as the Centaur spokes make a little "V" at the Hub and the Hydra makes a little U! So What now Jeff? How many push-ups or whatever do I owe you? One thing for certain, their not Detroit's or Montreal's!

I have another question though. I didn't know my wheels were staggered front to back. They both have cheap Chinese 245/45 18's on them which is obviously wrong. Without pulling the tyre off is there any way to tell the 8" from the 9" rims as I'm guessing they've been incorrectly rotated. Cheers Jeff

You should be able to measure the rim width (at least to get an indication) through the spokes.
I have read these strange stories of rotation, with one 9J at the front, and a 8J on the rear.
On the tires, when Jaguar got with staggered 18" rims on the XKR, they got into some strange logic's.
They used a 245/45 at the front, then on a 1 inch wider rear, they used a 255/45 (only 1cm wider).
I presume they did it for a slightly higher side wall, to fill the huge wheel wells on the XK design.
However, the 255 is, compared to the front, too small, and you can actually see the side wall more protruding inwards than the front.
I use F245/45 and R275/40 on my staggered 18" for both my Vanden Plas and my newly acquired XK8.
The side wall on this combination is the EXACT same, and it looks fantastic!

.....My Tires are Continental Extreme Contact DW 255/35-20 on the Front; which is a BBS "Montreal" Wheel that measures 9X20 and the Rear is a BBS "Montreal" 10X20 with a 285X30-20, "Connie" DWS's. All the same size as My original Tires that came stock from the Factory, so I assume that anything else would be incorrect! It's the size that all the Tire Companies publish as the correct size for my XKR....
I believe that if Jeff is successful in finding a set of the 20" "Montreal's" that he is looking for and they are correct, his XKR would use the same Tires as mine! Wouldn't you?
All he Tire Company's say that Jeff's 18' Wheels should have 245/45-18 Front and 255/45-18 Rear, if his Wheels are correct and Staggered as they should be. I looked all this up while I was serving my punishment of drinking 3 Beers! All I had around the house was "Shiner" Bock but I enjoyed them anyway!

I got a set of Montreals recently. The rears were easy enough to find on eBay for around 600 apiece. Couldn't find the fronts in America. Best I found were off of Rimmer Bros. They seem brand new, but boy were they expensive. I would post a want ad in the marketplace. I think there's a member around here who offered me the fronts for much cheaper, but I didn't bite because I'd already purchased them from Rimmer Bros.
Billy's kind of the resident expert on Montreals here. He's right on both the tire sizing and factory Continental DWS. I've yet to put tires on mine, but I'll probably go with a dedicated summer set as I have brand new all-seasons on my current 17" wheels.
As far as the trim rings go, they are indeed expensive. I think someone on here actually decided to forego the trim rings altogether, though, since they're not structurally important. Wheels still looked good.
That said, do consider usability/practicality. Some of the 18" wheels look great and are less prone to bending and cheaper to find and repair. Also, the Atlas wheels look great, too. Just some options.

Jeff,
I don't know how they measure Rims! Maybe you are measuring from the O/D and not the I/D of the rim set ( inside where the Tire fits)…..but if they are truly larger the Stock, I'm sure your Tire Dealer will be able to help you purchase the correct Tire for Front and Back!
I do know that the Stock Hydras are 8"& 9" wide....But so many Aluminum Wheels are being made World Wide there's no telling what all sizes are out there!
If you want, I will ask Dave in Scotland if he can come u with a set of "Montreal's"....Let me know.

If you want to see it yourself for sure, just get one rim off (or make a pic through the spokes with a small camera), the exact sizes are always stamped on the inside of the spokes.
-Front 245/45,
-Factory standard rear 255/45, but see my post above, 275/40 is the actually matching tire.
