A Ford guy goes Jag?

A Ford guy goes Jag?
So, not new to forums, but more or less new to Jaguar's. Here's my journey. My username is Ranchero50, been that way since '95 when I put a '88 Mustang EFI 5.0 / 5 speed into my '68 Ranchero.
Along the way this came home, a 34k mile '68 Fairlane. I've had it since '91. I bought the ranchero in '92 along with a '69 Torino GT vert and a '69 Mustang fastback.
This was another orphan that needed love. '93 Mustang with a Paxton blower. Ended up well built, 390 rwhp and 11.79@118 in the quarter.
Then this showed up, a '70 F350 dually that's now Cummins 6bt powered.
Finally, there's this. A '05 Lincoln LS, a S type in disguise which introduced me to Jag's V8, in 3.9l displacement. Bought it as a substitute for a '13 Mustang which was to replace my '93. Same basic engine tech, just affordable and in a 4 door format. It's been a good car with the exception of the cooling system nuking itself. My son bought it off me so it's still around. $28 oil filters, yeah...
Hoping to consummate a deal for a '07 XKR tomorrow so I've been lurking to see what drama I can expect. I first saw one a couple years ago at a local Staples store and talked to the owner about it. Black sexy coupe that I fell in love with. Knew someday I'd have one. I love how the LS runs and hope it's just more of everything with a blower on top and sexy flanks.
Been running my truck of a '05 Sportster to work and the truck's hard on my back after a couple days.
I also have a CNC mill and a bunch of welding stuff in my garage to fabricate cool parts. Hoping to contribute for a long time.

Welcome! I've owned 62 cars over the years and I'm guessing off the top of my head that more than half of them were either Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln. Still have three Fords; a 2015 Mustang convertible, a 1972 Pinto Squire wagon, and a 1974 Pinto Runabout. About ten years ago I acquired a '72 Pinto sedan from a guy in Hagerstown, but have since parted ways with that particular one. Good luck on the XKR deal!

Love the Fox Body, favourite body!
I think you'll be happy with the XKR. To be honest, and after 15 years of being a Jaguar technician, the XK ( X150 ) IMO is a well built car. I can't really recall any major issues with these cars. Probably only thing I can think of is maybe the transmission pans. They are made of plastic and are prone to warping and leaking due to heat cycle, but a lot of manufacturers these days are using them anyway. Other than that, you're gonna love it.
Good luck with your deal, hope you can find a good one.

Thanks guys. The fleet has been around for a long time. The Ranchero and '93 have seen at least 100k miles each. Both are due for retirement but my heart isn't in getting rid of them.
Graham, I'm a moderator on Fordification.com and tinboats.net and from the looks of things this forum is a good one.
Currently loading slings and straps to go get the car. 158 miles each way, around Baltimore (charm city), over the top of the bay towards Newark Delaware. Hoping to visit the Cabelas there. Google maps showing 19 incidents and a construction zone so far this morning.

Oh Goody... a trip around Baltimore on the beltway, towing a trailer!!! Have fun!
I'm an administrator and chief moderator on the Pinto Car Club of America (PCCA) site. I guess car guys are car guys, no matter what!

We did make it with only one anus puckering moment a couple miles before I-70 West.
Made a thread in the appropriate spot for the new to me XKR.
