help identifying a spring at rear suspension
Hello,
Yesterday I replaced my rear shocks (dampers) and in the process found myself with a washer bracket-plus-spring dangling from a bolt, which I can't put back properly because I can't tell where the spring is supposed to attach.
The bracket/washer is held by one of the upper mounting bolts for the front shock on the left side of the car. I can't figure out what the spring is supposed to connect to. It is NOT one of the tensioners for the handbrakes, as both of those are present and accounted for, though the spring looks the same.
The spring is part number C.21052 and the washer/bracket is C.29759.

I did hook the spring end to the brake line as a best guess (had to swivel the washer/bracket thingy around to provide enough tension). I guess there really isn't anything else around there to hook it to, is there? You'd think I'd remember that spring, having had the IRS out two years ago, but nooooooo, really wasn't sure. Appreciate the confirmation.

Thank you, Andrew, it's just that when someone asks a question I do my best to give the correct answer if I know it. I don't like doing things over so probably others don't either.
Nix will have all 4 feet on the ground this afternoon. It's a very busy time in my work and I let my own place go until it was Embarrassing!! I've spent the last 2 days whipping it into shape. I finished up after sunset yesterday evening so today I can give attention to Nix.
The first thing I need to do after she gets her shoes on is back her butt out the door and wash all the shop kooties off her trunk lid.

Well, wrong, as I was, I did preface it as a WAG!!! Now, wonder if that is what or a part of what is under my car. No E brake function atall!!!
Mod: add a spring. One for the Ebrake cable and one for the caliper flex line..

Yeah, my yard work way outta date. But, I am not nearly as fast at whipping it into shape. Far from the pro at at that that you are. And, I seem to have an affliction. I keep having to stop and fix the tools!!! Ran over a stray small rope with the weed whacker. Gorgian knot to untangle. And, it's tap to let out more whacking lines quit.
Guess when they go short by sound and cut. Manual let out line....
Nix has kooties also? Washing wasn't enough to get mine off. It did get all the old garage dust off. Polish and wax works stunningly. I am doing a patch at a time.
Today's planned session should get 1/2 of the dorsal surfaces done. The driver side.
next, start on the other side. Then the flanks.
Old tool clean up in progress as well. Why? Cause I love tools and I can't stand to see these old veterans in such poor shape....

Thank you, Carl, Nix has Loads of shop kooties!
I covered all the panels except the hood and trunk because those had to be open for the duration, but dust and Stuff crept in around the covers anyway on the tops of the doors for example.
Just before we put the hood in place I used a Lot of water and Dawn dish washing soap and a soft towel, being careful not to scratch that soft clear coat, and washed off most of the shop kooties from the hood. It looked a Lot better but still needs some Meguiar's.
The trunk lid, sloped down naturally, will have even more slope when I stick her rear wheels out the door and give the trunk the same treatment. There has been too much steel grinding dust in the air to take a chance on Meguiar's alone.
I covered the roof very early on so I expect no problems there.

But, dishwasher soap is pretty strong and can streak paint. Lottsa water and keep it very wet. it does help a badly oxidized paint job, though!!!
Way back when I worked during my college years in a full service station. Two bucks
for a wash job!!! We just used plain water from the hoe and a chamois. and, that West Texas water was laden with minerals. Keep it wet was a necessity.
I found that my leaf blowers do a great job of drying. No water spots!!!!
Black Jaguars are really slick...
