Range Rover Velar recognized for winning combination of performance, technology, practicality, fuel efficiency and value.

It seems that Jaguar Land Rover has been on a roll lately. The proliferation of the brand line up comes at a time where sales are stronger than ever. Demand is high for luxury vehicles that Jaguar and Land Rover build. There is no better demonstration of this than the new Range Rover Velar.

It also appears that we aren’t the only ones impressed with the great strides made by JLR. The iconic MotorWeek, too, has seen the quality of the newest models. Which is why they named the all-new 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Velar “Best Luxury Utility” as part of the 2018 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards. More than 150 cars, trucks and SUVs took part in MotorWeek’s scoring, but it was the Velar that won out in the luxury SUV segment.

Kim McCullough, Vice President of Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America, had this to say:

“Having the Range Rover Velar recognized in this year’s MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards is a tremendous honor. As we enter the Land Rover brand’s 70th anniversary year, receiving this award further underscores the brand’s commitment to offer an exciting blend of performance, capability, luxury and technology.”

This award highlights the momentum the brand has gained with another record-breaking sales year in 2017. Land Rover ended with an all-time high mark of 74,739 units sold. The Velar sold 1,694 units in December, making it the most popular vehicle among Jaguar and Land Rover buyers for the last three consecutive months since its launch in late August.

As the fourth member of the Range Rover family, the Velar is positioned between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Land Rover designed the Velar to offer exquisite refinement for every occasion and to be capable across a variety of terrains. Advanced technology complements the contemporary design, including full-LED headlights, flush-deployable handles, and a coefficient of drag of only 0.32Cd. For those counting, that makes Velar the most aerodynamically efficient Land Rover ever produced.

Naturally, the Range Rover Velar features a highly sophisticated all-wheel drive system and is available with four-corner air suspension. As per our review, it truly does deliver a high level of refinement in both ride comfort and control.

In the U.S., three engines are currently offered. The range begins with P250 Velar, which has a 247HP 2.0-liter Ingenium turbocharged gasoline engine. From there buyers can upgrade to either a 180HP 2.0-liter Ingenium turbocharged diesel engine,  or the very potent P380 Velar. The latter of which features the sublime 380HP 3.0-liter supercharged V6 gasoline engine. Pricing starts from $49,900.
