E-PACE SUV announced by Jaguar, priced from $38,600.

Compact SUVs, aka “CUVs” are a huge, and growing market, especially in the United States. Buyers are shying away from traditional sedans and instead gravitating towards small SUV’s. The higher seating position, perceived increase in utility and packaging is a stellar combo in the current market. Buyers are flocking to this type of car. This is doubly true in the premium CUV segment, with vehicles like the Porsche Macan, Audi Q3 and BMW X1 raking in the cash for their respective marques.

With the rousing success that is the F-PACE, it is only natural that Jaguar has announced a more compact model to slot below it: the E-PACE. At a recent media drive event, I was speaking with a PR rep from JLR, and he told me that F-PACE sales have been huge for the brand. In fact, the official numbers show a 44% jump in annual sales as of May 2017.

The E-PACE is poised to really put the “sport” into sport utility vehicle. Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, was quoted as saying:

“The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-PACE stands out. Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-PACE will do just that, albeit with its own individual character.”

E-PACE will come with standard all-wheel drive and a full array of the new Ingenium family of engines. So, you can at least expect the 280+ horsepower 2.0T Ingenium four-cylinder engine. A supercharged V6 model may make an appearance as a top-of-the-line model as well.

Jaguar will be unveiling the car in full on July 13 with a live stream video broadcast, so stay tuned. Jaguar will most certainly leak out some juicy details in the interim. As always, Jaguarforums.com will have the inside scoop.
