We Talk Cars with Jaguar Land Rover’s Top Brass

The new year promises to be a strong one for Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicles division. JLR’s John Edwards & David Larsen give us the details.

New SV-badged Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) products are coming in 2018 and 2019. Specifically, the XE SV Project 8, the new Range Rover SVAutobiography, insane Discovery SVX and Range Rover Sport SVR. These vehicles all wear the Special Vehicles emblems with pride, but they are all very different machines. Jaguar Forums was able to interview John Edwards, Managing Director of JLR Special Operations, and David Larsen, G.M. of Product Management at JLR, and get their takes on these great new products.

JLR is experiencing a surge in sales, offering a new level of brand recognition for the company. To that end, both Jaguar and Land Rover are pumping out new vehicles to satiate consumer demand. In particular, the Special Vehicles unit is producing high-performance variants of the most in-demand models. They turned the XE sports sedan into a world-beating 200 mph super car with the XE SV Project 8. The Range Rover Sport SVR is refreshed for this year, with even more power and performance. The Range Rover SVAutobiography offers unmatched levels of luxury, comfort and capability. And now they’ve built the most off-road-ready Land Rover ever, with the new Discovery SVX. Knobby tires, a winch, big suspension travel and a supercharged V8 will do that.
