Exclusive party featured some striking Land Rovers and the Grammy Award-winning musician–a Defender fan.

We’ve been having a great time at this year’s L.A. Auto Show. We got to attend the North American debut of the new 2020 Land Rover Defender. Plus, we have seen a variety of stunning Jaguars. Oh, and did we mention partying like rock stars? Actually, that is partying with rock stars.

Jaguar Forums attended a private party thrown by Jaguar to celebrate the Land Rover. We were thrilled that bash included a special performance featuring John Mayer. The event was held on November 19 at Rolling Greens in Downtown L.A.’s Arts District.

The location was chosen to highlight Land Rover’s upcoming partnership with Mayer. Kicking off next year, Mayer will hit the road in a Land Rover to visit the U.S. National Parks to promote the Defender 110.

Mayer explained that he is a huge Land Rover fan. He owns (at least) two Defenders, one of which is the blue one pictured above. It was even parked in the lot at the event.

Hitting the stage, he got the crowd to their feet, performing three of his hits:  “New Light,” “Carry Me Away,” and “Waiting on the World to Change.”

While an intimate venue, it was buzzing with energy. The music, the Jaguars, it gets the adrenaline going! Plus, Mayer showed his incredible talent on the guitar, rocked his vocals, and gave an energetic show; he was clearly having a fun and the crowd–a few hundred in total–found it infectious.

Mayer wasn’t the only celeb in attendance. The custom built Defender used as a stunt vehicle in the upcoming James Bond movie No Time to Die was on hand. And it was posing for pictures with attendees. It was looking rough, dirty and fresh just off the shoot, which we are guessing had a lot of off-road action sequences. It is also sporting Russian plates, maybe belonging to one of Bond’s villains. We do know that the upcoming 007 flick features a lot of villains in Jaguars

Other VIPs in attendance included Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, Olympic gold medalist hockey player Meghan Duggan, Olympic snowboarder Chris Corning, and more. One of the biggest attention-getters was a LEGO Defender on exhibit that garnered a lot of attention.

Throwing a bash with cool Land Rovers and hot tunes? Nicely done, Jaguar!
