Hi

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic who knows Jags, in particular the X-Type in the York/ Peel Ontario region. I have a slight oil leak and would like to have it looked at but the first reaction I get is always " oh a jaguar, that won't be cheap to fix"



Any help/ suggestions appreciated - I don't want to have to pay dealership prices if I can help it

Surprised that despite owning an X-type, you haven't already found a trusted mechanic...

Anyhow, maybe telling them it's a ford contour would help?

Are you willing to do some of your own work, at least in trying to track down the leak? There are some common spots for oil leaks on those cars, and the X-type section on this forum I am sure would help you along in tracking them down... assuming you're the least bit inclined to look around yourself,

Otherwise, consider contacting berkshire motors for jaguar in thornhill...

Alternatively, if you want an experienced opinion or look under the hood, I'm a tech, and could probably help you out, I live in Caledon, but I'm in the downsview area during work hours...

Had my first encounter with Westminster Motors (Chesswood Dr.) and I was very impressed. Avo is a great guy, very knowledgeable and shows passion for his work. He also was about $100 cheaper than the Jag dealer for a particular fix I needed.

Batting 1.000 so far.

 

what were you getting serviced? on your XK i presume?

 

Had to get the DRL's turned on, oil change, emission test and safety. He charged me $45 for the DRL's. He also checked all fluids, breaks and performed an inspection of the undercarriage. The Jag dealership quoted me $150 for the DRL's and that was after charging me $300 for a recall clearance letter. That's when I decided to find an alternative. Ripping me off for $300 will be the last money they'll see from me.

 

I need to take in our XKR for service... And it seems like Westminister Motors will be the best bet... Is there someone specific I can ask for or say who sent me?

I am planning to get a used Jaguar XF and would want a pre-purchase inspection. Would Avo be my guy?
