South West France
Hi
I suppose this is a forlorn hope, but are there any Jaguar enthusiasts in South West France. I have seen a number of French reg Jag`s and some UK reg Jag`s in the area, but I cannot find anyone who owns a Jaguar and wants to form a club or just meet and talk Jags.I have stuck a few messages under windscreens, but nothing returned yet.
My Car is a Antigua Blue XKR Coupe with Cream Leather and 38K on the clock. It is my sunny Sunday car and it lives in a big French barn under a cover when not being used.
It is immaculate and in showroom condition and turns heads, both because of her looks and sound (I fitted a stainless sports exhaust when I left the UK). I would love to take her to `meetings` and events to see and talk Jaguar.
The French Jaguar Owners Club is too far away in Paris to socialise, so I am trying to start something is Southern France.
If there is life out there give me a shout and we can see if it is worth starting something.

hi nick. i've just joined. i've been an enthusiast for years. i've bought myself a late '94 xjr and am currently ironing out the minor issues that come with change of ownership. i'm also trying to piece together the car's history. the last owner kept it properly serviced without being an enthusiast and i've not been able to contact the owner before him. the car seems a little unusual spec wise and it would be nice to think it's one of the twr ones that were supposed to have been destroyed rather than sold. i've posted pics in the new member's area. good to know i'm not alone over here. regards.

'Newbie'
Hi,
I'm up in the Loire 10 mins from Saumur, I have only owned a 'Jag' for the past couple of years and don't consider myself an expert at all, mine's a Red S-type 3.0 litre, right hand drive but french registered. I've been here with my family for five years but spent six months in the Lot before then.
I too would like to meet Jag enthusiasts in this area.
Any pointers?

Hi guys,
I live for part of the year in a village about twenty kilometres from Sarlat in the Dordogne in a village called St Martial de Nabirat. I only bought my XK8 in December last year and have been back in London since. I know of one other XK owner who is in the Lot but have not met with him yet.
I will be back in France from 10th April (I am sending this post from a paris cafe while waiting for the train south) for about nine weeks and then from early August till December.
I would be happy to meet up with other owners at a suitable location.
I need to get the XK registerd in France but I know i will have some trouble. The car was built for the US, came back to London, was registered (private plate) and subsequently came to France whwer I bought it. having gone through the process with my Reliant Scimitar GTC I am aware of the process but the GTC was 30 years old so I got a Coc from FFVE whic allowed me to registaer it as a vehicule de collection, can't do that with the XK.
Regards
matt

If you go to Members>Search Members>Advanced and search on France in Location there are 49 hits.
I find this section of the forum doesn't seem to get used much, maybe because most of the members are in the US.
Might be worth sending a PM to each of the guys on the list.
Re registering, it's easy.
You need a Controle Technique (check the headlights)
A quitus fiscale from the impots (free)
Visit the DREAL who will fax your car's details (mainly chevaux fiscale) to the Prefecture (free).
Go to the Prefecture armed with a big cheque + that's it.

I'm in the Haute-Vienne near Chalus. I have an XF which I have owned from new in 2010 and would like to know if there is an Jaguar Indie somewhere in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region as I'm going to have to have my touch screen replaced and the local main dealer (Pericaud) will only supply and fit and are not interested in fit only even though I've been a loyal customer for 8 years! They want €1500 for a new screen and you can get a used one elsewhere fro £100 upwards or a brand new one from EuroJag for £480.

Most of them do not have the faintest clue of how to deal with ANYTHING that has, even remotely, anything to do with electrics / electronics.
I live here since April 2003 and I start slowly to know what I am talking about as to car dealers.
The most common catchphrase amongst expats here is: "Don't ask".
Outside of Paris, gasoline Jags are not common, especially older ones.
If you are fluent in french, try googling something as "Garages experts en électronique" and take it from there.
Takeo.

Hi Takeo,
Well things moved on a bit because the problem with the Touch Screen went away without any work being done! I think there is an occasional fault somewhere in the Portable Audio part of my XF but I'm going to leave it until I can get over to the UK and have it looked at by an independent Jaguar specialist, at least for the moment it's all working OK. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the Dealer response was to replace the most expensive part of the system without any evidence that the part was in fact broken/at fault.

:icon_bowrofl :
Bonne journée!

Hello all
Just rejoined the forum after a long absence - I would like to meet a few Jaguar guys to generally exchange information and and share experiences!! Based south of Angouleme if anyone is interested. I know a great bar with ample parking right outside the bar so we could chat, drink (a bit) plus admire each other’s cars!!!!

Hi,
I live in the Toulouse area, owning a westminister blue 4litre convertible XK8 from 2001. Let me know if one of you passes by that area. There are some nice country roads (incl. winerys and restos) to be explored on the way to the pyrenees or to one of the coasts of the atlantic or the mediteraneen sea.
