Baby Jaguar... R-Inspired
I posted this in the X-Type forum, but I get strange satisfaction in stirring the pot - all without resorting to chrome, aftermarket bodykits, purple HIDs, badly tinted lighting or paint/vinyl graphics.
I like the fender "shark vent" on the XJR's and found a pair on ebay. I wasn't commited enough to the idea to think about metal fabrication, so I modified the vent pieces. After getting completely flamed on color (color match is perfect at like angles, see the 3/4 front pics), size on fender and front gap. I actually fixed the front gap to be perfectly even. You could roll ball bearings down it now and expect even speeds.
This is the original. I'm guessing the shark vent isn't liked by all on the OEM car:
Here it is on an X-Type with a couple of other insignificant cosmetic mods and Windows 7 car PC (see here - https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...hlight=windows - I work on the Windows team at Microsoft in Redmond). Performance parts to come next in order to almost earn the R badge. I might take that off until then or put the word "inspired" under it in cursive vinyl lettering.
Before the pics, here is the front gap now, after fixing:
Here are the rest of the photos:
