This workshop manual has quite a bit of info on the folding top, including on how to manually lower it in addition to manually closing it, and how to access various components.

Default Looks like I have the same problem

Hi all - same problem on my I think…roof stuck closed, probably need to access the rear control module. Anyone work out the mysterious rear motor access technique, or which page of the manual shows how to get the roof retracted manually?! :-)

I'm in need of help! The side panels will not go down...although the top cycles correctly. I'm thinking its a position sensor, but having trouble locating them...and don't know what to do after I do located them, 'maybe replace them?" Any help is greatly apprecciated! Thank you for your post. It seems to be the only one on the internet.

Could you post a picture of the 'side panels'?

Is it BOTH sides?

It's a shame no one has ever done a DIY on this or closed a thread by supplying a definitive solution - paging @Wastedwardy @mohammed m @Stevebzocarguy @Carlospfl @JeffreyB and @BarneyChampaign - what was your outcome?

As usual - the A-Team's 5th member @DJS gives us something helpful to work with (page 1680 onward):

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...3/#post2837767

After figuring out which module is compromised based on OBD2 data, rather than cutting a square out of the rear wheel well liner, one could jack the car up, remove the wheel and liner, and get direct access to the critical components.

Another excellent thread from 2018 with some nice diagrams and pictures:

Ok here's a video of the top removed and a broken receiver nut obstructing the top from opening:

Removal of the hex bolt and receiver nut from both sides enables manual opening as well as closing (see comments). Here are some stills, hole is just left of the finger.

Two-person job to remove, 2 bolts from each side to the body?
