Default 2016 f type s check engine light misfire after engine work modifications

Hello all, first time "posting new thread". Hopefully this is the correct way to do this rather than explaining my issues to a different thread. If this was wrong-please let me know for the future. (if adding to an existing similar thread is more appropriate)

2016 f type s manual with 29k miles. While the car has sat in the garage over the last 5 months of chicago winter, I have since replaced the original coolant pipes, thermostat and water pump for preventative maintenance. While in there I also changed the spark plugs (stayed with oem part number). On top of this, I also installed vap's stage 2 kit and mina intake. This morning was my first attempt driving the car which I was very excited and anxious to ensure everything installed works like it should along with seeing the performance gain from velocity ap's tune and pulley upgrade. Unfortunately the cars check engine light came on and flashed..with power loss and hesitation like a misfire. After parking it I scanned the car revealing p0300, p0304 p0305 p0306 and p1315. Seems as though the entire drivers side bank is "misfiring". I checked over any vacuum lines along with ensuring electrical connectors are seated and mina intake is tightened up with no leaks.. but no obvious issues. I'm not sure what the best next step is to take and hoped there was some tips or pointers on what you guys would do next. With p1315 code maybe the drivers side cat finally quit causing this issue? Hoping after all the work done I won't have to tow it to a shop.
Any decent guidance would really be great,
thank you,
Kevin

Welcome! Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Interestingly, there’s a long discussion going on of another unfortunate forum member who is going through exactly the same thing, starting with this post…

thank you, tons of possibilities as expected. I didn't mess with the symposer but will go through it to make sure all lines are connected. Hopefully not the gaskets-although easier the second time around, removing that sc to check out the gaskets would be a bummer (unless there were visible issues &#129322 just hope to go through some steps to narrow this down starting with the least intrusive labor intensive checks first. Aaaah, always something. Was really excited to see how the car drove with all the upgrades. (Short shifter and vap springs installed too!) Hoping for some magical comment of "check this" and it works🤞

Next step will be something I wanted to do anyways in the near future which is tackle the fuel injectors and keep my fingers crossed that's the issue..removed the fuel rail and sprayed pb blaster around injectors in prep for the removal tool to arrive tomorrow. If you have any hints tips on this process I'd love to hear it otherwise I hear it's a slow slide hammer away kinda project hoping they break loose🤞 darn cars, I was really excited to get this thing rolling after all the winter months.
thanks a ton for your replies and info!
Kevin

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isnt. It sounds like a fueling issue to me.
My injectors came out of my XJ 1st time and it was a Texas car. Others haven't been so lucky.

R&R the teflon seals with the proper resizing procedure. Some say you don't need to do it, but until I pushed my shop to redo the work, I had weird startup misfires that went away on idle. After the R&R it idled smooth as could be. I've since sold the car.

thanks a ton for the input, this car came from Pennsylvania so likely not as lucky but hopefully it spent the majority of its time garaged. I've heard both opinions also with the seals..I'll look into getting one now.

Djs,

Can't thank you enough for your recommendation to "join" the thread you recommended. Long story short is after the 200 plus comments..both trainingdragon who is the original poster and myself ended up doing the exact thing..leaving a rag in the manifold during our coolant pipe replacement project. Can't believe I did this-extremely annoying and careless but that was the cause.
You found quite the thread for me to join-same situation, same careless mistake.
You the man!

Thank you thank you!!!

Kevin

Happens to all of us at some time or another if you work on cars long enough.

If it were me, I’d blame garden gnomes for putting rags in your engines.
