Question Annoying Horn Sound Help

Not the actual horn from the steering wheel. Very often wiping car down with car unlocked, door handle sticking out, I will brush against the door handle, and get this embarrassing meep meep! Sounds like something that belongs in a much lesser car! What is the actual purpose of this mini horn? Anyone know where it's located, and how to disable it? Thanks!

It lets you know that the car didn't lock because something is open.

You can unplug the extra horn under the cabin air filter area.

This can happen when water is present on the surface and you have the keyfob in your pocket. Don't wash the car with the keyfob on you (either leave it in the car or well away from the car) and this problem will go away.

Actually when I don't have the key on me, it beeps every time, wet or not! With key it locks!

My bad....that's correct behavior. It'll beep twice and won't lock if you don't have the key on you. So wash the car *with* the key on you and that should stop.

That's what you should see. As mentioned above, you get the beep because the car is "warning" you that you're (apparently) trying to lock the car by pushing in the door handle in when something is ajar - like the door is open. If you close the door and lock the car, all will be well (and quiet).

You'll also (and probably more commonly) get the beep it if a passenger or bystander puts pressure on the door handle when you're not around with the fob. I'd keep the beep-beep going just for the bystander part.

One other thing you might run across as a surprise. If you unlock the car, but don't actually open the door to get in ('cause you're just washing the car), after a minute or so, the car will re-lock itself. (No beep)

#18 has a good photo.
Not sure if it affects the security alarm. I've never set mine off.

Default Disconnect the warning horn???

I look at this as a security feature and not one to disconnect. It lets you know someone else that possibly should not be around your car is there.
If you do still want to disconnect and have a 2017 or similar model, I can provide updated photos of the horn area, as the method to access is a bit different from that shown in the link provided. MY2017 has more of those little screw down fasteners to the cabin filter access door and then you have to take the cabin filter out to see the horn

Thumbs up

Now knowing the purpose of the horn, and being able to avoid it by having the fob in my pocket, I'm good! Thanks all for the info!

Unhngd and The Rock had the BEST option. I did it and it is PERFECT.
I purchased a $3.00 less obnoxious unit from Amazon with a simple splice and plug in. Easily accesible from pasenger side engine bay under the lid closest to windshield. You may find it with a search or pm UNHNGD

It now sounds similar to an EXOTIC.
