Yeah, it would take someone young and naive to assume their idea was new and novel and unable to be appreciated by people with a lifetime of hard earned experience.

Debadged merc's and BMW's are a dime a dozen here in Melbourne.

Debadging....

My X-Type was de-badged, more for symmetry on the bootlid than anything else
My XJR is de-badged, I don't need R badges to make the car special

My Land Rover is still wearing all it's badges....which is unusual for me, but it looks right so....meh....

It really depends on the car, I like to think that usually it's to be understated, i.e. take off the R badges, you don't need them, the car speaks for itself.

Looks like I've been de-throned as Senior Geezer.

I'm looking forward to pictures of de-badged and blacked out badging.

I am planning on doing it as well.

Here is someone who gets it... The "R" on the front grill of the F-Type is a perfect example. Completely throws off the symmetry of the front end.

@oz - I posted a thread on here a few months ago about black wheels and several members thought the idea was preposterous. Not a reaction you would typically get from someone under 40.

Fortunately, the base cars are absent those "trampy" R and S badges? The F-Type script and leaper stay because, well, I like them. And, I was born on the day Queen Elizabeth II was coronated.

On a BMW it seems that badge deletion is to hide the engine/model.

Maybe it will become more common on the F-type once they start selling 2.2 turbo-deisel engined models...

More recently in the U.S., it has become common for the high-powered models in a line to be de-badged in order to become a bit of a "sleeper." I see a lot of de-badged M3s around, and I purchased a year-old, de-badged RS4 from an owner who told me he wanted it to look like as much like the rest of the A4 herd as possible.

That seems similar to the trend among some of the R-crowd around here. However, it's rather difficult to fade any F-Type into the woodwork.

I have a 330ci as a shopping/commuting car. It takes the opposite approach and has basic model bodywork and wheels, while retaining the badges.

People only notice if they look closely.

If it was me, it would be just to hide the fact that I owned a BMW!
