Default Auxiliary Water Pump Blowing Fuses

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 2015 R that has an auxiliary water pump that is blowing fuses. It is not tripping any warning lights and the car's temp is where it should be. Is there any danger driving the car with a non functional aux water pump and any ideas on where to begin looking for a solution?

It will be fine for daily driving but you don't want to romp it til you get the issue fixed. The pump is located on the left side of the heat exchanger if you're facing the front of the car. It could be failing or have a short in the wiring. I would check it out. I assume you replaced the fuse and the new one popped as well? Did you use another 10 amp fuse or did you up it? I installed a 25 amp when upgrading the pump because the Pierburg I am using blows the 10 amp. Could be the previous owner upgraded it and he didn't know to swap the fuse?

Thanks for the reply! The previous owner hit a street sign and had the the radiator and front bumper replaced so it does seem possible that he installed an aftermarket pump that needs more amps.

Or the wiring to the front of the vehicle was damaged.

Thanks for the reply! I'm hoping that isn't the case but yeah definitely possible. I'm trying to get in touch with the guy that rebuilt the front end.

I'm not sure how easy it is to reach, but unplugging the harness at the pump would be a simple test. If it still blows fuses, it's not the pump and probably the wiring.

That's a good thought. I will look into that. Thank you!

And if it a higher amp pump, can the car's wiring handle the increase? Fuses protect wiring from overheating and catching fire.
