Back exhaust valve question
A question for you guys…
I know that over the years there have been issues with the back exhaust valves seizing and/or squeaking in these cars.
Is this something that, at a certain point, was addressed in the newer variants of the F-type such that these things are no longer an issue in practical terms? Perhaps improved bearings were used to deal with the issues in later part numbers, or something of this nature? Anyone know for certain?
I thought I remembered reading someone on here suggesting that this is the case, but a search didn’t yield much.
Thanks in advance
Cheers

I vaguely remember someone saying that there was some bearing of some kind in part of the actuator mechanism that was problematic. But I’m not sure totally what the issue is man, so I’m asking. It’s a bit vague.
I filled up my blinker fluid the other day, and she’s been working a lot better. Glad I could entertain ya?

Sure, I'm a miscreant and a recidivist, but knowing the time and place for that is important.
My occasionally OK memory pulls up something about the valves getting sticky and/or making noise (squeaky/chirpy?). I didn't pay that much attention though, since I have the switchable exhaust and use it regularly. I run it mostly in "louder" mode until I get on the freeway, but sometimes go quiet in the neighborhood. The latter, I do increasingly often since I drive speed-limit-ish near home because I've grown increasingly irritated by those that feel the neighborhood is their personal racecourse. I recently had to actively veer right while entirely in my own lane to avoid collision with someone who felt both lanes were theirs.

I’m purely speculating here, but it’s just a thought that popped into the head here…Perhaps this has already been established as an input to the problem, not sure.
It’s interesting that you have a 2016 and have never experienced the problem at all. Perhaps some of the issues are based in driving habits that take these cars through winter driving…Salted roads etc? With you being in California you would have none of that going on obviously…

The only issue I've ever had with the valves was when a rodent chewed through the vacuum line under the hood and disabled quiet mode.

Okay, yeah, I could swear I read something about bearings at one point one way or the other. I would have thought I’d see more responses to this. I had the impression that this was a relatively wide spread issue.
Has your car been winter driven?
Wishful thinking then ;-(
It seems crazy that they would have an exhaust where these valves are basically not serviceable. When that is the case at least getting the design right becomes rather important…geez

Prob best, to use a high-temperature brake caliper grease.
