Default Boasting About My Dealer; Scarborough Jaguar/Land Rover

I just can’t help it; and if this thread disintegrates into oblivion, so be it.

Some of you know I purchased an 2009 Audi S8, with a V10 engine, some months ago - it’s a long story which I will spare you here - and I was tremendously grateful that my friend and GM Mike O’Rourke helped me with my [long-distance and as I was away at the time of] purchase. Needless to say Mike always goes the extra mile. (I hope he will let me buy his lobster roll this Sunday when we go to Red’s Eats?).

The S8 is simply spectacular as you might imagine but 3 weeks ago the hood release cable snapped while showing [off] the V10 engine to a friend. The service department at Scarborough Jaguar/Land Rover - Dan Babb is the outstanding service manager there - always treat me like royalty. And while I was unsure of what replacing/repairing entailed (although I had an idea over on AudiWorld Forum) I knew I was in good hands.

So today was the day I spent the better part of the morning at the dealership - with exceptional hospitality (Mike even bought his staff and me Holy Donuts) - going about my business while they did theirs. Mike even donned mechanic’s gloves and did a beautiful touch-up on a small scratch I had made (I wanted to take a picture of him doing so, but he didn’t like that idea).

I got my bill - thrilled to see the hood release fixed! - and tipped my wonderful and friendly Service Advisor Brian Copeland $20, Service Manager Dan Babb $20, my mechanic $20 and bought lunch for the entire service department. S%$^, it’s the least I could do and they all deserve it.

A reminder that there are fantastic dealerships out there. DJS knows! (Come to think of it...maybe I’ll let DJS pay for both my and Mike’s lobster roll!)

Like I said, I couldn’t help myself.

Of course, some of us couldn't make a service appt for today since someone had their big bad Audi in.

Scarborough Jag is absolutely a gem, which is why I bought my XE there. Lobster rolls are on me!

And RickyJay is the unofficial Jag brand ambassador for the state of Maine.

Mike is truly a class act and that dealership deserves all the praise it gets.

'Ran into' RickyJay at Scarborough - I was there for the 6 year service. A pleasant experience, as always.

Now that's what I call "staging".

Any closer and you literally would have "run into me".

You are, of course, quite right. I noticed that immediately after I parked my car. Time was fleeting and DJS was in a bit of a hurry to get back home after spending much of the day with me; mostly eating our way through Portland (starting with perfectly cooked Eggs Benedict, along with beautiful Roasted Maine Fingerling Potatoes, at Union at The Press Hotel...see above). Secondly, those decorative “bricks” in front are actually a sort of [very minor] speed bump, and getting the front tires up and over and close to my car wasn’t an easy feat. Lastly, I do not see why I have to JUSTINfy my actions to you.

Godspeed Nati!

Nothing amateurish about this lunch! For those unaware, that’s THE most famous Lobster Shack in the State of Maine, Red’s Eat’s in Wiscasset. Any questions?

They must supply these Jaguar Dealerships as a self assembly boxed kit! This is the dealership at Burgos in Northern Spain looking little different from Scarborough:

My XK was in there for three days last September with failed injectors. Excellent and friendly service 1400 miles from home.

It kinda makes sense Graham, consistency across the brand. And pond. (How nice to “hear” from you).

If memory serves me correctly, Mike not only stands behind his product but he stood behind - and besides - you. On the freakin’ highway! And then...gave you his car, so you and your lovely co-pilot could continue our journey that day!? If memory serves me correctly. If that’s not going way above and beyond the call of “service” - although for Mike, it’s just who he is - I don’t know what is.

Same as Inchcape, Southampton, England. Though if you stood in that location to photograph it, you'd be standing in the middle of a busy road! I think it's the old Ford truck site, long and narrow, but loads of parking!

Thank you all for your kind comments, I'm blessed to count you all as friends!

I took the photo of Jay and Dave in front of the building and enjoyed riding up to Red's on Sunday for lunch with them. Believe it or not, there were NO police escorts, NO special parking privileges, NO blocked intersections...but of course we did NOT have to wait the hour to hour and a half in line for Red's as Jay handed Debbie our 'list' and the food magically appeared about 10 minutes later!

Summer is just starting here in Maine, if any of you come up this way please give me a buzz....it would be a pleasure to enjoy your company again!
