Default F-Type R buyer advice

I'm looking to purchase an F-Type R (V8) for a weekend car and was hoping to learn from fellow enthusiasts what I should look for as I consider cars listed for sale. Just like other high end sports cars such as a Porsche you often have the pitfalls to look for and make offers accordingly or avoid altogether.

I'm considering low mileage 2015 models given the RWD availability....which is a feature I like in sports cars.

As it pertains to the engine or drivetrain what, if any, are there specific components to pay particular attention to or inquire about during a PPI? Perhaps there is something I should evaluate regarding the fit and finish...such as the hood alignment with the surrounding body panels, etc.

Thanks in advance for the insight or advice offered.

Drive it hard and see if it breaks. Panel gaps are norm and shouldn't be too concerned unless you find it accident related.

Rusty underbody brace bars(or whatever they are called) can be your friend in negotiation. Check for leaks as you would other used cars.

Check for interior damage from all angles, my gauge cluster leather shroud had some weird damage on the right hand side, only visible when sitting on the passenger seat. It was also missing a cargo area floor cover which I had to order myself.

Lastly check the tires, often times the tires are still original on lower mileage cars, which are probably toast in 79 different ways, don't ask how i know!

I recently bought an R as well used and would say other than your normal used car things to watch out for I would also check the rear differential (common for leaks-my car had 11k and was leaking) in addition to oil levels. My car was bought from a dealer and a dealer my cousin worked at and still they overfilled the oil by 2 quarts. Apparently many service departments make that mistake by overfilling the 8 banger.

Welcome TXWJag. SinF has posted a detailed description of what to look out for / be aware of. You can find it in this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...type-s-240491/

Your 2015 might be vulnerable to the coolant pipe cracking issue. Jag has a redesigned pipe and you may want to preemptively replace the one in the car. If you decide not to, keep an eye out for low coolant level warnings and if you have an overheat condition, pull over right away and phone for a tow. my 2 cents... could save you 2,350,000 cents. don't ask how I know.
