F-Type ride
Hi all, i am seriously looking at purchasing a 5.0l F type at some stage in the near future...
the only concern from what I have heard is that at low speeds the suspension can be quite hard and a bit the opposite of a luxury ride
is this the same for all models or just the early versions?
is this a myth or are they not that bad?
thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,
I sold my Cayman S primarily due to my wife's complaints of a stiff ride. She loves riding in the F-Type. No complaints of comfort from her...
...that being said, these err on the side of sports car/GT, though from a luxury brand. So, they won't ride like a Bently, but it won't be as stiff as a Porsche either.
I love the adjustable dampers. It gives me the option of a stiff ride when I want it, or a cruise through town (with wife) in "honda mode".
Your best bet is to go drive one and play around with the suspension settings. Within 2 minutes of my test run I knew I would buy one. I love the car and the flexibility it offers for day to day driving or spirited runs through the twisties with a stiff suspension.
Go give one a whirl!

I agree, if you give the dealer the impression that you're serious, they'll probably let you do an extended test drive (like overnight or something). I love my F-type, but my wife won't ride in it because she thinks it's too stiff lol...go figure!
Thanks all..
i popped into a dealer today and had a good look over a 5.0L R version.
fired it up and experienced those crackles!
Unfortunately it was jammed in by Ferarris, Bentleys and Lambos!
I will pop back at some stage and organize a ride.
thanks for your comments

Just as an FYI. I like driving in sport and dynamic mode, but for GT cruising with the taughtness in the suspension you get with dynamic mode I have been turning of the engine an throttle settings on the dynamic. I like the tighter steering and suspension control. I actually think the car rides better in dynamic with less body roll and less bounce over bumps. It is not a lumbering suv or buick though. My wife prefers the lumbering of a Suburban so she doesn't ride in it. I think twice in 3 years now.
And since I do not wish to hijack the OP’s thread, I’ve always felt the “Jeremy Clarkson” gripe about the ride quality was more taking artistic license (and to end the clip on a counter-point and high, humorous, note) rang a bit false. I too have never found the ride quality overly harsh at all. It’s not an Audi S8 after all....
Here’s the video in case you’ve never seen it:
P.S. In case you were wondering where our very own “U” got his moniker...

My wife actually finds the ride in the F type to be much smoother than her JCW Mini. Her gripe is with the excessive G forces. Not so bad once she learned how to use the Jebus bars.

I find the ride is firmer on the base without adaptive suspension but it still very good. I would say that the F-Type has an excellent ride/handling trade off especially considering the weight. It is comfortable being driven every day and for long trips. Like other said, if you are expecting a soft floaty ride that hides all imperfections in the road you will be disappointed otherwise I think you will be happy with ride.
Don’t you actually mean other than the pain of hearing your lovely wife yelling at you for driving too fast? Oh...sorry...wait a minute. That’s my wife! My apologies.

Don't believe everything you see on TV. (Or on this Forum!).
Most of us here can, however, assure you: unless you are hyper-sensitive to ride quality (or Jeremy Clarkson) the pleasures of driving any F-Type will greatly outweigh any concerns.
