Ok so my 2018 march 4 pot in for first service tomorrow, free 3 year service plan, was told it was costing me €650 a few weeks ago by customer care, strange, has anyone here got theirs serviced yet and any updates they got, have asked the dealer about apple play feature, he wasn't sure if mine can be updated, on another point as you probably seen posts about certain emission callbacks, he said does not apply to Ireland YET, but yes in the UK.

 

Im surprised the first service is costing you anything as I thought after 2016 they all got the free service for the first service and over the first 4-5 years ?

 

Free for the first 3 years, but as I said a customer care worker gave me a call and said I had to pay for it, but that was incorrect

 

I just had a 5k service done on mine.It was around 400€. The free service is not valid for every country. Normally in Belgium it is, but my car came from Gibraltar.
They updated the infotainment to the latest version. This was free but they won't do it if there's no issue with it. On the service note they just wrote 'slow to boot'. This was free.
I asked for the Carplay upgrade but they couldn't get it to work … My car has no SIM slot and I read somewhere that your car needs WIFI to install the Carplay (although they shouldn't be related). My build sheet says no wifi This would have been a payed upgrade.

Forgot : concerning the recall it seems like it only affects the start-stop function which will engage faster then it does now

 

Generally, with 'free' service, it has to be at 12 months +/- 1 month, or 16K miles, +/- 1K. Something like that. If you want to do an early first service (as many here do), you'd have to pay for that. This is in the US...

 

So first service done today and all good, 1st of 3 year free plan ,Apple play wasn't able to be installed although I have the updated screen, but My car has no SIM slot, on the emissions issue , nothing done, just UK cars according to the dealer

 

looks like we are in the same boat. I was surprised that the wifi is actually a option instead of standard equipment

So what did you get for your 650 EU?

(We paid 1500 quid for a 5 year service plan; filters, oil and labour that's all you get - It's a rip- off, the only upside is you get the Jaguar Stamps in the Serv History)

 

hadnt to pay 650 that was a error done by customer care , it was free and for the next 2 years

I thought I had a 'naked' version, but my car does have the [2nd] SIM slot under the centre armrest. Although my car did not come with WiFi, which I found very annoying,
as I had to take a DATA-sim subscription at € 11,50 pm [ no prepaid special data sims in NL like in the UK], and I normally use 200Mb out of 1Gb subscription..

Now word was that the '19A' SSM update would give me WiFi / Android auto / OTA etc etc. But what model do you have : the 'Mk1' style bumper or the 'facelift' like present ?
Could be your car is march 2018, but still 2018.5MY... You are the first I ever heard of that has no 2nd simslot in a 4-pot...

 

New facelift like present, all good there and the 10" screen, they said it need an SD card slot for the CarPlay,I have these 2 slots USB

 

Weired, kind-of intermediate model ? I dunno if you can easily look behind that panel, maybe its the SIM wiring loom behind it...

How do you get your traffic data : through the 'secure' SIM ? That was the point I was mad about : no WiFi, they should have prepaid the data with the same SIM as the secure system..

 

My MY19 Had Apple CarPlay installed at my first service last week. Also had the emissions change applied at the same time. No adverse difference to the performance. Auto start/stop kicks in earlier but I turn that off as soon as I start the car at the same time I turn on dynamic mode.

The Wi-Fife hotspot and OTA was also activated with the Apple CarPlay update.

From your picture you are missing the SIM card slot that I have next to the 2 USB slots.

Sounds great to me ! I get 1st service next week. Take it in 3rd end-of-the-day, needs 'up-date' around 6h..
Probably can only pick her up the 5th..

 

Yea no sim card slot, so this is the reason for non update, anyway don't really mind, it doesn't bother me, just if it was there I would have got it, On emissions , does not apply here.

 

My storage compartment looks exactly the same. 2x USB ports, no SIM car is a 08/2019

 

That can only mean one thing.. .. I have the intermediate model..

 

My build started February 2018 and delivered to dealer start of March 2018. When did you take delivery?

 

Build march 7 [ e-mail dealer to confirm], deleivery april 9th since end of march I was on holidays in Portugal.

I do know there was a production stop as my dealer phoned to some planner with the factory to find out if there
was an "extra production" , they sometime do without order. Then they get a nice price if they order it jointly
with a second car in that batch. If not 'claimed' like this, they are kept in stock and sometimes sold to lease
or rental companies.

 

HAPPY...

Had the service today..
- WiFi hotspot works [ only had to switch it on..];
- New looks for startup screen ;
- OTA card updates,,,

I have to look into it tomorrow, dinner ready by the time we got back...
