Default Free tire from Continental tires

Long story short, I purchased a set of Continental extreme contact 02 tires this past March. Then in late May, I picked up a screw in the sidewall of one of the tires. I went back to Discount Tires, where I had purchased the set and ordered a replacement tire. They charged me $402 for the replacement but they made a mistake and had the wrong tire pulled up on their computer. I had purchased a set of Michelins for my old BMW a year ago and that's what the salesman pulled up. Of course I didn't find this out until I went back to have the replacement tire mounted.

When I showed up to have the new tire mounted, that's when the "wrong tire" was discovered. So Discount tire ordered the correct tire this time and gave me a $150 refund as a prorated discount.

So I went home and while waiting for the correct tire to be shipped to them, I looked on Continental tires website. I found this:

"Road Hazard Coverage:
This Road Hazard Coverage is offered to promote goodwill and is
not a warranty that your tire will not fail or become unserviceable
due to a Road Hazard. This Road Hazard Coverage applies to all
Continental branded tires that are purchased as new replacement
tires and is a promise of replacement under the conditions
specified below.
When an eligible tire has a road hazard condition during the first
2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of treadwear or first 12 months from
date of purchase, whichever comes first, the tire will be replaced
with a comparable** Continental brand tire free of charge. A road
hazard condition is defined as a cut, snag, puncture, bruise, or
impact break."

A week later, the correct tire was in and I scheduled an appointment to have it put on. While the work was being done, I told the manager about Continental tires free replacement policy, and after some checking and double checking , they refunded all my money. Plus they didn't charge me for the mounting and balancing since they had screwed up the original order.

Kudos to Continental tire for this policy!

Nice. I used Tire Rack’s coverage 23 months into their 24 month policy to get a MPS4S replaced.

I had a similar experience with Discount Tire and brand new Michelin PS4S's. I clipped a large lane marker (not a dot, a turtle) with both driver's side tires and pinch-flatted them both. I had driven them less than 10 miles so Discount Tire replaced them for only $50 without me even asking for a discount. I had purchased them for about $450 each and didn't buy a road hazard warranty, so I was very pleased with Discount Tire.

You’d think the place you bought them from would have known? Lost opportunity for them to provide the best service to their customer as possible without costing them a dime? Opportunity lost in this case it would seem, in that you had to bring it up yourself etc…

Ah well, good ending for ya either way

Both the assistant manager and the general manager of the shop had no idea about the Continental warranty. But they do sell dozens of tire brands so I guess they don't always know what the manufacturer is offering customers.

Default Wish that had worked for me....

I bought a new set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS06 in 2021 for my F. Up until earlier this year, I had no reason to change my mind about the choice, then my tech found rot cracks between the treads. I only had 20K miles on them, rotated/side swapped regularly, stored inside, so no reason why they should have failed. I was saving up for a new set anyway, because I don't keep tires on a car past 5 years. While looking at new DWSs, I noticed the mileage warranty and decided to pursue that. I had all the documentation, and felt that a pro-rated adjustment was warranted. Worked through my dealer, the tire seller and installer. I went ahead with new DWSs, since the car was somewhat unsafe to drive with the rot, and filed a claim through my dealer. Continental refused to do anything. I was never given a reason why. However, my dealer cut me a decent deal on the new ones, including mounting, disposal and Road Force Balancing. I did see that there is a registration form one needs to fill out for these tires, so I did that as well.

Its really great to hear a story like this; a company doing the right thing.

When I looked at the thread title thought I would be offering up (4) more free tires to your "giveaway." These Contis that came with my car are really hard to love.

I’d double-check the exact tire sizes on your F-Type before jumping on the deal, since some trims get picky. I’ve run Continentals before and they were fine for everyday driving, just not as sharp as Michelins. If the promo knocks a good chunk off the price, it can be worth it. I once paired a tire swap with a montreal truck rental to haul everything around, and that made the whole thing way easier.
