Front Clearance / Start up Volume - V6S vs V8
I'm trying to decide between a V6S and V8 and two factors that may influence my decision are driveway clearance and start up volume:
- anyone know if a V6S has a little more clearance at the front than the V8 (due to weighing less)? The V8 I test drove barely had enough clearance to get out of my driveway: it scraped just a little. Not really any potential to drive out on more of an angle due to the narrow street and car park exit guttering/kerbs.
- the V6S seems to be less noisy on start up, although I wasn't able to do a side-by-side comparison. The communal parking area echoes like crazy and I don't want to totally annoy my neighbors.

Do we have a write-up for this anywhere? I'm assuming the parts to order are 20, 21, and 22 correct?:
Just wondering if there's any disassembly that needs to be done as the image suggests or is it a straight bolt on?
Needless to say my front spoiler pieces are getting pretty worn...
There's a plastic bit even under the 3 pieces of the lip that takes the majority of the scrapes. I felt better about that getting beat up while my lip pieces are untouched. I think Unhingd mentioned this plastic part is only 30 bucks.
Which part are you referring to? Is it on the diagram I posted?
20, 21 and 22 are the only bits I’ve ever scraped, and that’s with the 30mm lowering springs. I still haven’t installed my spare set after 32k miles. I just trim off the streamers occasionally.
The legendary V8 "two footed start" is the perpetual crowd pleaser at Cars & Coffee. The crowd yells,"Again! Again!!"
The two footed start is left foot on the brake while your right foot holds the gas pedal on the floor, then press the start button. For some reason this results in an unbelievable amount of pops and crackles on the crescendo, and even more on the way down which seems to go on forever. An running engine rev only produces maybe 20% of the fireworks. You can also rev within about 3 seconds of engine start and get the same effect. Make sure the car is still warm so you're not hard reving a cold engine.
Yeah, I know there is probably some reason it isn't good for the cats or dogs. I figure I owe it to those who haven't fully lived their lives.

I made a little tool that cleans them up in a jiffy. The pieces make a lot of noise, as I'm sure they're intended to, but I've yet to hit anything more substantial than those feelers. I've learned the driveways that are an issue and take those slowly. Otherwise, I don't worry.
I've said this before, no one ever said "I wish I had gotten the smaller engine". With that said, the start up noise is a bit startling for the uninitiated. My dogs still run when I get in to my V8S to head out.
. It's not a car (either in the V6 or V8) in which you're going to sneak out of the lane unnoticed so get the model you like.
