Default H422: Fuel Vapor Purge

Just received an email from my JLR Dealer. My 2018 R-Dynamic needs prompt attention to perform open service action H422: Fuel Vapor Purge. It will be performed at no cost to me. All I have been able to find is it is a software update.

Does anyone have information on this software update?

Looks like it is just the valve replacement no software update, apparently some valves are sticking. No charge

Did you have the work done? Did you notice any changes to the car after the change was made?

This is merely a software update. Not a purge valve replacement. See attached full description in photo. I had it done on my F-Pace…. Not going to let them anywhere near the software on my F-Type. Highly unlikely this would be a problem anyway.

I just had the service done and I did not notice any difference. I let them do it as my car is under the factory warranty until October and then another year under certified preowned. But again, I did not notice any difference. If I was not under warranty, I would not have allowed them to do it.

I had this update performed on my 2018 today. I did not notice any changes.

It took the technician four tries to do the update. After the first three failed he switched to a new diagnostic machine and it completed successfully.

Before I stopped at the dealer I checked both the Jaguar USA site and Topix to see if there were any other recalls listed for my car. Curiously there were no recalls listed not even this one H422.

Dealer performed this on my 2017 F Type S today and I already regret it. I feel like the idle is rougher now, I can feel vibrations in driver's seat, this wasn't the case before. RPMs are stable, not jumping and error codes but I dont like this new idle!!!! I'm pissed!

This system stores fuel vapors from the fuel tank in a charcoal canister and later purges them into the engine to be burned during normal combustion. When an H422 fuel vapor purge fault appears, it may indicate problems such as a malfunctioning purge valve, clogged hoses, damaged vacuum lines, or an issue with the charcoal canister.
