The Dodge Challenger is built in Canada, the Motors are hauled up from Mexico. So thankfully we can cross those off our list of compromises. Phew!!

My concern would be that tariffs might be another coffin nail to the already diminishing sports car market, and JLR might not think it worthwhile to stick around for a small slice of a reduced market.

Where did you source this data ? The car is build at Castle Bromwich, and the engine factory is in the UK. Body panels are made in UK, only raw Aluminium
might come from Hoogovens [Tata Steel..] in the Netherlands, not Germany..

Well, something smells as Germany and the UK have no aluminium smelters as far as I am aware...
So maybe they don't go back to used material, or the body parts are not made in the UK ?

Probably. They do have aluminum rolling and stamping mills in Germany. My Dad designed and managed the construction of the first post-war aluminum mill in Germany (Koblenz) for Kaiser Aluminum (1964). Now owned by Aleris.

So I was curious, does the fact that I have a VIN (that car fax actually found) mean that the car really is built. VIN’s get assigned and stamped at time of manufacture; is that correct?

Depends : if they go due west its about 10 days. But often they also pass parts of North Africa and some harbours in South America.
It all depends on the freight letters and the price JLR pays. Unless the boat is jammed full with UK cars, then it goes straight..
So no more then 2 weeks I'd say..

Mine is arriving to port today (Baltimore I guess), and now scheduled for delivery to dealer on 9/14 (extra five weeks are JLR's estimate for engine certification). I feel like a kid sitting in front of the chimney waiting for Santa Claus to show up.
