Default How to install mirror cap?

I bought the sequential turn signals and installed them yesterday. I was able to get the driver mirror cap back on and not sure what I did differently but it went on. The passenger side cap I cannot seem to get on properly and thought I would post before I do damage. I did break the tiny center tab which should be ok without but I cannot get the cap locked on. I try starting at the side where the tab closest to the window is but cannot get the tab to drop in. I have watched videos and they show how to take them off but not how to pop them back on. I know it should be simple. Tips? Suggestions?

The passenger side gap around the housing looks right but the cap is loose. The 2 main tabs are intact and it seems the small tab that should drop in isn't holding it in place. Does this tab have a lip on it that maybe I busted off that would grip under the slotted hole in the mirror housing?

Does anyone have a photo of the tabs to see if maybe part of the tab broke off? I have searched the internet and not found any pics of the underside of the cap.

HTH. The angle wasn't perfect to see the shape of the 'clips'.

I took a few other but they were not any better

I put those sequential signals in myself recently. When putting the caps back on from memory I lined it up along the top and pushed it to join there first and then clicked it in at the bottom. Argh, or it might have been the opposite...

I am trying to see the small tab on the short side of the cover that goes closest to the window. Is that tab just straight and no extension that goes under the slot it lines up with? It appears so with your photo above which also appears to look just like mine which means the only broken tab on mine is the small one in the middle which shouldn't create the issue I am having. The driver side popped on without issue so clearly I am missing something or broke more than just that middle tab but again doesn't appear to be the case.

The videos I watched showed lining up the tab by the window and then essentially popping the top in until it locks in place. Just will not work on the passenger side.

I think this shows the tab. If you look closely it is L-shaped.

Not sure if this video will help or is one you have seen already... from SNG Barratt.

Perhaps a bit of WD40 or other lubricant?

I put the sequential indicators in about 2 years ago, but just recently noticed that the left side mirror cover was not correctly in place. IIRC I got the underside hooked in and then snapped the top side over.

I must have snapped the small tab off but odd from your prior pic (if it is the same mirror cover) doesn't seem to have the tab (L) piece on it but yet this photo clearly shows it. And Valerie said how she had to put the tab in the slot first and snap it down. I did watch the videos prior but don't see anyone angling in the tab and then snapping the rest of the cover on. Seems like they line everything up and it "pops" in. If I recall that is how my driver side went in and is on tight. I appreciate the pics and put some 3M double sided tape under the cover and it seems on tight. Thank you

If you snap off that tab there will be 2mm of wiggle in the cover. It will still be secure so will never come off any you will probably never notice it again .
