Any answer you get is likely to be a positive one, and for good reason. These beautiful cars are comfortable, very fast -all of them - and excel in driver/owner satisfaction. How is this for a positive experience: I took my F-Type S on a run to a British car show 1.5 hours away; the trip involved some mountain driving as well as open highway with some urban areas. The complete trip - going and returning - door to door fuel consumption? An amazing 7.9 litres per 100 kms. That is almost 36 miles to the Imperial gallon -and I was, let's say, driving the F-Type as it was meant to be driven. All that power, that SOUND, the beauty, the features...there is no car anywhere near the price that offers all of this in one package (and no, I don't think a 911 can compare visually, so that lets it out of the running as far as I am concerned)..

Beautiful jaguar BRG, my e type is the same color. Thank you for your response, it has given me more confidence to buy.

Frank, it was fun speaking with you this evening.

Here’s the info on the clutch generations:
First generation clutch - T2R18945
Second generation clutch - T2R21165
Third generation clutch - T2R25681
Fourth generation clutch - T2R27466

First generation flywheel - T2R8810
Second generation flywheel - T2R20968

Thanks to SinF for compiling these numbers.

Lithium battery: The RS-30 that I have is not made any longer. Here’s the replacement line of batteries: https://www.arcflashllc.com/products...um-ion-battery

They are now made in OEM sizes.

Nothing but good things to say about mine. Based on Unhinged message it would appear that you're interested in a 6 speed MT. Finding one in an S will be a little more difficult.

There is one in the Chicago area for sale currently by a private party though:

Good luck,

I had a 61 DHC, Frank, and was thrilled every day driving it. Wish I could have kept it, but it was not a Grocery Getter. Had 10 other Jaguars in the interim, and shopped thoroughly for my F and it too is a driving thrill. I drove the 6 cyl, the 8 S and the 8 R AWD, choosing the last one. I would suggest you do the same, to help your choice. One thing which was a pleasant surprise is that the aluminum construction is so strong that the Cowl Shake characteristic to convertibles is gone with the F.

I was fortunate to get my price for the 63 e type, he got a great car. I bought a my16 s coupe, with a auto, and I’m very happy with that decision. I researched the manual and with the clutch problems I decided it was not worth it. With the auto in sport mode you shift as you would a manual without the third pedal. It works for me. It appears most manual f types are not the S model, which was a must for me. My priorities were: my 16, exterior color, interior color with performance seats and a S model coupe. I wasn’t interested in the v8, I’m not tracking the jag and performance in every day driving, the difference wasn’t worth the cost and IMHO the “S” just sounds terrific and suits the Jaguar. Good luck with your search for the right f type.

Very nice car, you will enjoy it. Please take oil changes very seriously, long-term these Direct Injection engines sludge and suffer timing chain wear if you don't stay on top of this.

Hope your enjoying your motor Frank...
Just found mine. A white F-Type with red/black interior, 2017, Coupe S manual shift. Thought is was going to take months and months to find a manual, low and behold one turned up last Monday, 8th Feb, in Florida, the owner having moved from Scarsborough, ME. Funnily enough my wife, Christina, is riding her horse in Ocala about an hour and twenty away from the car. By 5.30pm she was test driving it. By 8pm she had bought it…. Picked up Wednesday and arrived Thursday. Loving it so far...

Hi Marlow42. Glad to see you have the car you wanted. Beautiful car with a great looking interior with full leather treatment and a generation 4 clutch. I still check the car adds for a manual (just curious, I love my auto) and always check carfax and descriptions to see if any clutch replacement were done. Not a one! I follow this forum regularly and with your generation clutch you are good to go, but their are more knowledgeable members like Lance “unhinged “ ,SinF,l lizzardo, Jacksonville Jag and Therock88 to name a few that have all the answers not only for manuals but everything else pertaining to our f type. Good luck with your jag, I know I am being redundant in this forum but you will absolutely love your car, no doubt about it. The Brits of the Hudson car club has had many drives on your side of the river. When the weather breaks I would love to see your jag and have coffee if possible. Again welcome to the f type club.
Frank

Thanks Frank & takeapieandrun. It's going to be fun...
Frank - Carfax doesn't mention everything. Didn't mention clutch and flywheel replacement, software update or short shifter added. Just mentioned 'Engine Checked' for the former and 'Electrical System Checked' for software upgrade. I only found out after they sale when the PO package of stuff included LRJ paper receipts and other receipts including about six tires being replaced or repaired. Have to phone dealer/seller and ask.
Gladly buy you a coffee whenever but I'll be at a BoTH meet sometime...
